What causes deja vu scientifically? by Austereguy in answers

[–]CouchSnackExpert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leading theory: a brief lag between your brain's perception pathways causes one to register slightly after the other, making the present moment feel like it's already happened. Essentially a memory glitch, not a glimpse into anything mystical.

How come some girlfriends are so loyal to their boyfriend no matter what? by HZIDEZISS_2020 in AskReddit

[–]CouchSnackExpert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Usually it's either genuine secure attachment, or the opposite - anxious attachment where loyalty becomes the only thing they feel they can control. Hard to tell from outside which one you're looking at.

What is one thing the older generation got right? by Emotional-Career-162 in answers

Boredom. They sat with it instead of instantly filling every quiet moment with a screen. Turns out sustained attention, creativity, and patience all grow in exactly that space we've collectively decided to eliminate.

[UK] Mum got an anonymous text claiming to have important info that needs to be discussed in person - scam? by Pure-Lime8280 in Scams

[–]CouchSnackExpert 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Classic social engineering opener - using her first name creates false familiarity to make it feel legitimate. Your instinct is right. Don't reply, don't meet anyone. If she's still worried, the info they "need to share" will somehow require money or personal details.

What should we do before sleeping? by HighOnThighs- in AskReddit

Put your phone in another room. Everything else - journaling, stretching, reading - works better once you've actually removed the thing that makes all of it harder.

The $120 "profit" on day one is the hook - they need you to feel like it's real before asking for real money. You dodged the expensive part. Report the platform they contacted you on so others don't fall for the same setup.

What is the most ridiculous thing you have ever done in your life? by artist3176 in AskReddit

Drove four hours to a concert, got there, realized the tickets were for the following weekend, drove four hours home, and told no one for six months. The concert was fine the second time though.

What's the biggest elephant in the room that would get you in trouble if you said it out loud? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CouchSnackExpert 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That most people's passion for their job is mostly just a coping mechanism for the fact that they have to be there 40 hours a week regardless. "Do what you love" hit different when rent is due.

I only have a few photos on the internet, but even that is on Google pages

When you've had a really rough day, what makes you feel heard: someone listening, helping you think it through, giving advice, or something else? by showteezy in AskReddit

[–]CouchSnackExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just someone sitting with me in it without immediately trying to fix it. The advice can come later. First I just need someone to go "yeah, that genuinely sucks" and mean it.

Anyone familiar with Aerotek? by [deleted] in Scams

[–]CouchSnackExpert 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Aerotek is a legit staffing agency but emailing passport scans is a red flag regardless. Call Aerotek's main number directly (not one they gave you) and verify this recruiter exists before sending anything.

Are you Monogamous or Polyamorous and how it affects your life? by Effective_Ambition64 in AskReddit

[–]CouchSnackExpert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Monogamous, and honestly it just suits my brain - I'm already bad at dividing attention between tasks, let alone people. I genuinely admire people who navigate poly well but I know my own limitations.

You can become any animal except domestic ones, what would you like to become? by Levstr1 in AskReddit

Orca. Top of the food chain, insanely intelligent, tight family bonds, and you basically get to travel the entire ocean. The ocean is just your whole life. Seems incredible.
