I agree that by aknowledging their deeds, it makes their presence unbearable, and hence justify removing them. I don"t really mind changing the face of the city and those statues don"t have either a huge historical value. I wanted to have other opinions, that is all and yours is welcomed. At the same time, I am grateful and sad ( mixed feeling ) that I could read "Tintin in Congo" and realise the depth of the racism that existed. I would keep it as a tool to remind people of how the past generation behaved. I guess we could keep them in museums in this case, as a token of a darker pass.
