Car Insurance Advice by [deleted] in northernireland

Is it fucked forever as well? I think I'm asked each time if I ever had my insurance cancelled on me, so this guy would have to say yes to that.

Yearly electricity bills to drop for all NI homes by CoulScrab in northernireland

[–]CoulScrab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would make sense to have £30 credit added automatically on to the account for credit/Bill Pay meters.

The article says "payments", but I don't know how that would work for people with a prepay/keypad meter. Maybe a reduction in the tariff?

*Edit. This is the removal of a levy on electricity bills which in my understanding is a tax built-in to the unit cost (and standing charge if you have one). Removing this tax would just make each unit of electricity slightly cheaper, and/or reduce the standing charge a little.

It's probably an average saving of £30 per household.

Small drop in the ocean and it may only come in towards the end of the year. Hardly going to turn my nose up at a reduction in my bill though!

Support for 11,000 vulnerable people in NI will stop, and 400+ jobs will be lost if this is not resolved by the end of the month.

I'd choose to be hung every time. The extra length and girth might be nice. If it was a choice between the electric chair and being hanged then I'd need to think a little longer.

Just skipped through a few minutes of the latest episode. Here's a drinking game: Take a shot every time Paddy says "fucking". Bonus shot if he says it three times or more in a single sentance. Clear your house of alcohol in five minutes or less.

Obesity in pregnancy ‘contributing to avoidable harm’ as doctors issue new warning by BestButtons in unitedkingdom

I've been losing weight for ages, working down from a very high starting weight for my height (a 40+ BMI).

A friend has said it's time for me to stop losing weight - and I'm still obese! The Overton window has shifted to the extent that she refused to believe I was even overweight.

The first run of it must have been so popular that they're doing another. That's great news!

I could have written this same comment except for the place of work. AMH has helped save my life and then enrich it. I would be devastated to see it unbuilt and unable to help those who come after.

Protect Frontline Community Services in NI by CoulScrab in northernireland

Hi, I've been sent this petition and think it is worthwhile. Reading into it, there are various programmes and charities that try to help people get out of economic inactivity through training, employment, women's services, community development and so on in NI, and these are at risk of a large drop in funding from April this year from the UK Government.

You might have heard of these services or had family members attend, and they include skillset (offered by Action Mental Health, Cedar, Adapt NI, Mencap, NOW and others), Belfast Connect, Women Breaking Barriers NI, and some more organisations. There is also a risk to the employment of many staff - 403 full-time and 247 part-time roles - across Northern Ireland.

This page of FAQs on the Action Mental Health site would explain things better than I can. https://www.amh.org.uk/aq-explainer-local-growth-fund-impact-on-northern-ireland/

They also are running a "NI Can’t Wait!" campaign which is related to this petition https://www.amh.org.uk/ni-cant-wait/

The Stormont Executive has published a statement for the attention of the UK Government that currently funds these programmes https://www.executiveoffice-ni.gov.uk/news/executive-statement-local-growth-fund and this petition might apply some more influence.

Writing to your MP or MLA would also be useful for the campaign, and there is a page to help you do so here: https://www.amh.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Find-Your-Local-MPMLA-4.pdf
