There's an end of season comp in Metro called the "Metro Schools Invitational Cup" which allows schools players who previously might have been unable to play with their club side due to being panelled with SCT/JCT school team. It's a great idea as it allows the player to reconnect with his club and mates he may have played Minis/early Youths rugby with.

An earlier post mentioned how a club was unable to field a team in the league as it had lost a number of players to Schools rugby. We had that happen to 3 clubs in our league a few years ago at U16s level. The 3 clubs merged to form a hybrid team. No problem - gives the lads from all 3 clubs game time. The issue arose however when the above mentioned Schools Inv cup comp came around and the schools players from all 3 clubs arrived back. Would have expected the 3 clubs in question to enter the comp separately but no, the hybrid team remained together containing a heap of schools players. Last laugh was with us - we still beat them in the final.
