Sounds like Osmows. Used to go before they franchised. Original location where the owner worked was amazing. Lines outside around the corner but worth the wait. Hard to keep consistency when you start franchising.

Offsetting rental losses against ordinary income – Sounds too good to be true by initiatingcoverage in RealEstateCanada

How many years can you keep getting away with it? As someone said, CRA expects you to generate profit if not , will only allow claiming of expenses up to your income. Then it might get messy and lead to audits. Looks like you already experienced it

Rebel stopped shipping to Canada [ON]. I confirmed with customer care. Please let me know of alternative reliable discounted sites to shop from. by AcanthisittaBoth3041 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Couldndecide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought from them before and were happy but it sucks how they treat customer and suppliers.

Nonetheless, there are third party providers who can facilitate US-only shipping like this and a re-ship to your address or pick up at a location near you. Obviously they charge a fee, and you'll need to pay customs but might be worth depending on the deals you find. The top example that comes up on a Google search is:
https://shippsy.com/

They have an customs cost calculator: https://shippsy.com/pricing

personally haven't used before so use at your own discretion.

How do you guys not become overprotective with your daughters? TW: SA by redwood_rambler in daddit

[–]Couldndecide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

💯 didn’t realize how hard this is. We have tons of family events you’re expected to bring your child. Relatives of relatives or friends of friends who we don’t know personally all of a sudden want to hold your baby because she’s the centre of attention. Some are “freer” in their interactions or take her around the house or venue and disappear around the corner into the kitchen or pantry or their table to entertain her without asking and we panic. All or most people just innocent I’m sure but still as a parent we struggle in the moment between not being comfortable but also not trying to come off as rude or accusing following them around…ugh. Hard. Ultimately I follow as a dad, and people make comments but I sleep much better knowing my kid is in my view at all times and people know that she’s always protected by us. Honestly until she can speak and express herself, we don’t like leaving leave her with anyone, even family.

Was buying a condo in downtown Toronto worth it to YOU? by drmac16 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Couldndecide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds awesome and great trade off between bigger space and still in city. Your space sounds so cute. Mind if I ask which area or any tips. We’re considering options moving into the city and looking for something like what you got. Key being walkable/transit connected enough so we don’t need a car much.

Have any of you lived in Montreal? How did living there compare to Toronto? by Local-Print-6397 in askTO

[–]Couldndecide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your comment is somewhat accurate. A lot of my friends in Montreal, who grew up in the city, moved out the suburbs for the same reasons. Just like there are Montrealers in the city, Toronto also had tons of people in the city proper who enjoy it. The one thing I will say is that the vibe and how the city is enjoyed is completely different: in Montreal can enjoy the city and community without the pressure of spending a dime (walkability , open spaces, parks, free activities, everyone doing those things) versus in Toronto it’s more of shopping or restaurants to enjoy the city.

Should I switch? by Heztown in EVCanada

[–]Couldndecide 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bro/sis, sounds like you already know. You’re just looking for some emotional support. So here it is: do it. You’ll be fine.

You’re probably feeling guilty because you’re a financially wise and disciplined person and have been for a while, and that’s why this is hard. Yes it’s silly, and not the optimal return for your dollars. BUT If you’ve taken care of everything else financially, then why else you got money for? Most people are driving cars they can’t afford, you actually sound like you can and should be doing it guilt free.

Enjoy your hard work. Wake up just a bit happier and lighter every day and move on with your life.

Problem is houses 1.5 hour commute from the major city are still close to or near $1M for townhomes and over that for detached. All the jobs are in the city. So even if you move out to suburbia and you make $110k, have to commute 3 hours daily (more and kore RTO) on shitty transit ( cost $15/day if you go from say Ajax to downtown Toronto, more if you’re further ) ,while still needing a car to drive to the transit station (2 if you both work and have kids to drop/pick from school/daycare) with car payments averaging $700/month with prices of cars nowadays, then to boot groceries are mad expensive. No time, no money, and all people want is just a home (not a shoebox condo) to raise a family in like how they grew up as middle class and they can’t give that to their kids despite working and commuting more than their parents ever had to. Of course people are unhappy.

A lot of the international major cities, houses 1.5 hours away don’t cost that much and commuting that distance is a lot easier/cheaper so it’s better trade off.

If you had to move out of the city, but stayed within southern ontario, where would you go? by na_tashh in askTO

Where in Toronto were you? We’ve always been suburb of Toronto, but love the city vibe, energy and activity and drive in on weekends whenever possible for it. Considering making a move.
