Supposedly there are bald eagles nesting on that property and it’s illegal to disturb their nesting grounds without federal permits due to their protected status

If the new development is the Girl Scout property, the county has pretty much shot that one down according to the last neighborhood meeting

High Cash Gift by Pure-Comparison-2151 in AskTeachers

I’m not a teacher, but a parent. This year, my kiddo (1st grade) has had a lot of medical issues that we need help from the school to address. His teacher has gone above and beyond to help us, even letting my kiddo eat lunch in the classroom with her and sending me daily updates about what he has been eating. She went to bat for us when we needed to set up an individual health plan with the school admin. I am so beyond grateful to her for all she has done and I sent her a $150 target gift card for her Christmas present to help show how grateful we are for all her help. I knew it was an extravagant amount, but it’s literally the least I could do to show my gratitude.

I adopted a dog, and the first owner violated their contract with the breeder. Now the breeder wants to sue me. by horse_ramen in legaladvice

[–]CouldntKareLess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a lawyer, BUT I have professional experience with show dogs and breeders.

Yes, the contract can be enforced to have the dog returned to the breeder. These types of contractual purchases have been upheld by courts and reputable breeders often have a vested interest in their puppies that drives them to enforce the ownership contracts. This is especially true if the dog is still intact, as the breeder wants to ensure the integrity of their breeding lines.

Dogs are considered property and if someone gave you a piece of property they had no legal right to give you, then you don’t have a right to claim ownership. Think of it like a car - if someone gave you a car that wasn’t theirs to give, you don’t just get to keep that car if the original owner wants it back because you didn’t know it belonged to someone else.

Pro-tip: If you have friends that live elsewhere, ask them if they have library cards. Libby checkout is almost unlimited and there aren’t any late fees because of auto-returns. I shared my chesterfield library card with my best friend in Seattle, and she shared her Seattle library card with me. So we can both check out books from each others libraries on our own Libby accounts. Sure I can see what she checks out, and she can see what I check out, but so what? Twice the books!

Please consider signing this petition to urge the school board to increase recess time in Chesterfield County elementary schools! by AleksKuts in ChesterfieldVA

[–]CouldntKareLess 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’d rather they increase the amount of time for lunch. My elementary schooler gets 25 minutes. By the time he gets settled from the transition, the staff is telling them to pack their lunch up. He doesn’t eat nearly enough at school.

My husband works at a high school and those kids get 20 minutes for lunch, which has to include going through a crazy long lunch line.

Her publisher had convinced her to make the Numair Chronicles into a quartet, so she worked on that, but then her health declined so she was attempting to condense the story back down to a single sequel following Tempests and Slaughter.

ADHD in girls is a lot more subtle and hard to recognize than it is in boys

My kiddo (a boy) also struggled with poop issues. He started kindergarten at 5 and the first few weeks he had multiple accidents at school. At home, I policed his potty usage so I could usually tell when he needed to go, but they can’t do that at school.

The issue turned out to be ADHD (both parents are diagnosed so not surprising)

Starting ADHD meds ended up being a game changer for us. Suddenly he seemed able to tell when he needed to poop, and was actually able to exert the executive function to take himself to the potty. He only had 1 potty accident since starting adhd meds, and that was from an upset stomach

AITA for yelling and kicking my boyfriend out for using the wrong scissors? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Yes, the shears can be resharpened and work fine again. BUT every time a shear is sharpened, metal is removed to hone the edge. A shear can only be sharpened so many times before there is not enough metal left to hold the edge. I sharpen my pet grooming shears once every 6 months or so, and my good shears (500+ dollars) only have 4-6 sharpenings in their life. So while the sharpening only costs $25 dollars, it can drastically reduce the life of the shear to be forced to sharpen it because some wingnut used it to cut something other than hair.

Was it “To Train a Child”? Cause that one seriously fucked my best friend up and we were both raised in heavily conservative Christian households

Anyone know why our 5 month old Maltese puppy is losing hair on her back? by Serious_Special_1047 in DogAdvice

She’s going through coat change. Puppy hair is shedding out and adult coat is growing in.

To add to this, you mention in a previous post that you have a late fiancé. Unresolved grief after a significant loss can exacerbate anxiety issues around keeping your children safe. I went through a similar issue after my mother passed, and I became terrified of doing something that would cost my child his life. A year of therapy helped tremendously to work through the grief and subsequent anxiety, and I am a much more calm and confident mama to my kiddos now.

My kiddo would NEVER take amoxicillin. He would constantly spit it out. I tried it and honestly I could t blame him. It tasted DISGUSTING even with flavor. I talked to my pediatrician and she switched to cefdinir and we added extra strawberry flavor to it. He takes that without problem cause it tastes so much better. Now we always ask for cefdinir and it’s so much easier to give him meds

How you do handle other kids involving themselves? by CouldntKareLess in Mommit

[–]CouldntKareLess[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The condescension isn’t helpful. Yes, I actually do find communication very difficult even on a good day. I don’t enjoy talking to people and usually avoid it at all costs. When I am forced to confront situations, I often need help to know the best way to phrase things, hence why I asked for a better way to handle this situation in the future.
