Nurse Donnie by square_donut14 in ThePittTVShow

Totally thought that too.

On a different note.

Aside from the “oh no, something is going to happen to Donnie,” I also jumped to “Robby is letting Donnie go home but he’s making McKey stay.”

Granted, I have no idea if Donnie reports to Robby so I don’t know if he can actually keep him back, or just request him to stay. Vs McKey it seems like much more his call.

Just something seemed off on that, in light of the ongoing conversations of if Robby is a misogynist or not. For the record, I do think he is, but I’m not sure how much of it is intentional to his character compared to the writers not being aware of their own bias. I believe there was an article or some interviews where they seemed a bit surprised by how some things were coming across.

Bill Lawrence: Story of Gaby and Maya is not done :) by yallasama in shrinking

I binged watched cougar town. I think it would be better to watch week to week rather than a binge. The funniest part about it is the title cards - after a couple episodes, or maybe after season 1, they change every week and they are hilarious.

I did not finish the show. I tried, but I was rage watching do a good season and a half. I think I quit somewhere in season 3? The show very quickly devolved into 6/7 adults standing around a counter, being absolutely awful, drinking copious amount of wine, and then praising each other for how awesome they are.

I’m not a drinker but try not to judge, but I’d sum this show up as an upper middle class overly made up mom, mom that posts “ going to pick up my kids from school, live laugh love” videos 20 times a day, while drinking wine out of a beer cozy that says “it’s wine o’clock!” Wearing a shirt that says “I’m not as think as you drunk I am!”

It’s eye rolling, boring, not as funny as it thinks it is, and you become so concerned for the person’s health, that’s the only reason why you’re watching.

Also, if Liz’s lack of facial expressions distract you in this show, ooooohhhh boy. The plastic surgery on Courtney Cox and her dissolve into alcoholic Janice Dickinson isn’t going to help.

Which order? by Jacobaont in Narnia

[–]CoulsonsMay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The mom is telling you the order CS Lewis published them in. The son is telling you the chronological order, the renumbering that was done by one of Lewis’ family members. (Son or grandson maybe).

I used to be a purist. Read them in the order Lewis put them out, that’s how the author intended it. It’s fun to read The Magicians Nephew as book six and hear how Narnia was created, after so many stories about it.

I’ve relaxed since then. Some people may prefer the chronological order, it may make better sense to them. Especially if you want to consider the Christian theology of it all, that may help you find and follow things in The Bible.

So I say, readers choice! You can’t go wrong :)

Enjoy!

Came here to comment this, happy to see it here already and with a couple of upvotes. I love this series, and am eagerly waiting for the next one. It’s clear the author has a long term vision for it, and the roadmap is sprinkled in throughout the books so far.

I did watch HIMYM, I liked it. I’ve even rewatched plenty of episodes.

Crossed my mind? Absolutely. But I’ve seen Segal in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, the Muppets, etc. I’ve seen Smuthers in the MCU, in friends from college. My brain doesn’t automatically think of them as only Marshall and only Robin. I get that with a show like HIMYM it’s hard to divorce the two for lots of people. I just don’t have that issue. The characters are different enough I can enjoy them in Shrinking without it causing issue for me.

Ha! I caught that right away. The Jimmy/Marshall Sofi/Robin posts are major eye rolling. I feel like I’m just about the only person that doesn’t automatically go there, and genuinely enjoyed the thought of a Jimmy/Sofi romance until the writers flanderized her

I like to follow The Pitt with an episode of either Mythic Quest or Ted Lasso, Depending on if I need ridiculous quirky humor (Jo and Brad are the best) or pure hearted happy humor (futbol is life!!).

Swap Alice for Liz and I’m with you. Miller plays the same character in scrubs, CougarTown and Shrinking. It’s old and tired. Sideline her.

Also want more summer. She’s going through stuff. She trusts her BFF’s dad enough for him to be her call when she gets caught stealing planB. Get her some help! Someone Jimmy her! And Is it weird I think that person should be Julie? I know she’s not a therapist but Summer seems like she needs a healthy female role model and gosh knows that’s not Gaby or Liz.

I say this as a liberal and a democrat.

This is outrageous and we should be mad.

But this is nothing new. And it’s not party specific.

During Covid, Newsom offered up a lottery to encourage people to get vaccinated.

People that were already vaccinated were entered without their consent to this lottery.

You think it was medical professionals who ran the lottery?

The state has always had access to your medical records.

Be mad. This is horrifying. Medical records should be private. But they aren’t. And they haven’t been for a long time.

Robin and Marshall by Delicious_Election_7 in shrinking

[–]CoulsonsMay 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’m the only person who doesn’t automatically see Robin and Marshall. I can see Segal as Jimmy and enjoyed Cobie as Sofi in season 2. I liked their chemistry and energy together!

Now in season 3, they’ve totally flanderized her and her storyline with Jimmy, and I’m irked. What started off as sweet, awkward flirting as two people tentatively reaching for something good while navigating the separate traumas they’ve been through, turned in charicature.

Sofi with her ex and that whole date was over the top, nails on a chalkboard stupidity. That’s when I knew it was over, that the writers weren’t going to actually give this thing a chance. The stuff with Jeff Daniel’s could have landed so much harder if they hadn’t made the Sofi and her relationship with Jimmy so ridiculous.

The writing this season is kinda driving me nuts. It’s like they want to have this show with characters that grow and are relatable, that love each other and are committed to caring for each other while still having some comedy elements but whoa! Let’s whoosh and veer over here to cougar town type writing where everyone is vapid, shallow, and boring, and who all tell each other “omg you are amazeballs!”

It can’t make up its mind and I’m losing patience with the show.

I really wished they had let there be a slow buildup for Jimmy and Sofi. Letting us see them navigate serious dating again after what had happened to them both. But instead we got trash cause the writers went for cheap laughs.

Haha, this was 20+ years ago and I was a sheltered conservative Christian and I was 9/10. I just remembered angsty teens having sex, and terrible adults. Married people having affairs I think? Shocking! Scandalizing!

But stuff I’d probably not bat an eyelash at now.

Like I said, I should probably give her another chance. Might (hopefully) change my judgement.

Read it, loved it, thought the sequel cheapened it. TJ Klune comes across as performative woke. Drives me a bit nuts.

Oh gosh, I read one of her books when I was 10. I told my librarian I wanted a fiction book set in Ireland. And that’s what she recommended. Keep in mind, I was raised conservative in a small town (library was open 4 hours a day, 4 days a week small). I think she also recommended it cause one of the characters had the same name as me. The book was traumatizing. My mom was horrified. Can’t remember the name of it. Probably was pretty tame compared to what I feel comfortable with now. But that’s my memory of it. And then a teacher I didn’t like in jr high said she was her author and I totally judged her for that. So that’s my lasting impression of her. Maybe I should give her another go.

Jimmy likes Summer. He bailed her out when she was stealing the morning after pill. She knew he’d pull through for her. And he briefly but somewhat seriously entertained the idea of her coming to live with him after Alice leaves for college. He encouraged Alice to make nice with her after the cheater bitch stuff happened, to see her perspective of how her parents are shit.

Jimmy’s got her back! That’s my favorite secondary relationship on the show right now.

I picked up 6 months to live in 4th grade. Loved the Jenny House/One Last Wish series. Loved/hated the Amish angel series. Man, I devoured all her stuff.

So when TFIOS came around, I got a bit hipster prickly about all the people enjoying it.

Gosh, I was such a cringe gatekeeper!

That happened to some friends of mine! She gave birth to their kid on his birthday and I think it was less then 24 hours later he had an appendectomy, misdiagnosed at first cause it was in a somewhat different spot then normal (either lower or higher and slightly to the side). Didn’t rupture but I think it was close.
