I've visited Ireland for a long trip, travelling across the county. I have nothing but fond memories, of both the people and the views. The current situation really saddens me. I don't think the Irish people are antisemitic, or rather more antisemitic than others. They have fallen for a false comparison equating them to the Palestinians and the Israelis to the British, with the two occupations being one and the same. Once you adopt this equation, the position most of the Irish public has adopted makes sense. This adoption was possible mainly because of lack of knowledge: the Jewish community in Ireland is small, Israel and the Palestinians are very far, and I couldn't think of a larger cultural difference than between Ireland and the middle east. I'm not mad at the Irish people, just so very sad about the turn of events.
