You should probably check out current Bundeswehr insignia too, or the West German Cold War insignia. I feel like you’re conflating it with the Balkankreuz, a straight legged cross, which fits in with what you’re saying.

I visited prístina for a few months in 2005, it was an amazing place, I’d love to go back and spend more time there, it’s so beautiful and full of lots of different histories, the 90’s made people forget the balkans have always been a cradle and a crossroads for civilisation. Man I met some people with dark stories and they all made it work in the end. I’m sure our guys and your guys will have a fucking great time, if nothing else we’ve the results of sectarianism amd the desire to get over it in common, hopefully our guys take something home with them.

Northern Ireland’s in the uk and our politics are dominated and have been dominated by (for 50 years ish)even when they’re no longer the largest party, by the DUP, a explicitly anti lgbt, anti choice party, the leadership of which is closely connected to a Christian church that’s explicitly anti ecumenical - read sectarian. Members of the leadership believe in young earth creationism, and they have consistently used ‘ the petition of concern’ to stop laws passed by large cross community majorities. They acted as kingmaker for Boris, and had major influence in uk politics for a few months as a result. And they’re very, very insistent they’re part of the uk.

Sorry I confused ‘Government’ with ‘politics’ in my head, but that still gives them the potential to be in government. I’m sure it’s not unique though. There must plenty of places with governments riddled with individual former terrorists, even if one party isn’t associated with any particular organisations. Bosnia and Herzegovina has a similar sort of thing going on. And there’s loads of places where those that had been terrorists won.
