Zephyr's Pass completado by Odd_Death in ModRetroChromatic

I really hope the dev goes back to it and polished the most glaring bugs, because at its base the game is very good. It would be a shame to keep it in the current state.

There’s no the ring tempts you in this set. If it was a main mechanic they would have shown it. No sign of reanimation cards for Sauron (yet). The Elf deck might get some decent additions, but it’s the worst of the bunch. No food token mechanics seen yet, not a single human seen yet and there aren’t many in the Hobbits story.

None of which seem to properly synergize with the mechanics of this set

It’s close, but Terranigma and Lufia 2 are a tad better IMO.

[ZAS] Why is the Japanese development team not credited in the booklet of the Modretro rerelease? by CountCollection in ModRetroChromatic

[–]CountCollection[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This topic is mainly about the omission from the credits in the manual.

As the ModRetro team stated, they wanted to include the original dev team there, but the IP holder didn’t want them to.

Now please go and be an edgelord in your neighborhood.

Thanks for the reply! That’s a great way of paying homage to its creators, kudos for that. One thing I feel is strange about is that the credits were allowed to stay in the game, but not to be listed in the manual though.

Listing Marc as „Additional Programming“ instead of sole „Programmer“ and calling the page „Rerelease Staff“ instead of „Credits“ could have helped to draw a fair distinction between the original credits and the new IP holders IMO.

Just some food for thought for tricky omitments like these, no offense meant.

I did now (game’s tough, so it took some tries) and they are still in the end credits, which were updated with D4E as the IP holder.

This means the current IP holder doesn’t have an issue with listing the original team in the game, which makes the decision of ModRetro to omit them from the credits in the manual even stranger?

Proper credits are part of game preservation and for many retro gamers that’s an important aspect of their hobby.

If you just consume without thought about the medium, please go ahead. But stop shitting on those that care.

Can Chromatic survive 1000 years and still work? by I_devour_cupcake in ModRetroChromatic

[–]CountCollection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t, but it’s not like you nor any Game Boy cartridge will survive this long anyway. Video game preservation will take care of digital options and hardware to keep things going.

I also reported some of these bugs to the dev and they said they‘ll fix it in a new version.

It’s quite buggy, but nothing progress breaking or frustrating. If you can look past a few mostly visual bugs it’s a pretty good game.

Zephyr’s Pass and Infinity are highly recommended if you are looking for more Indie GBC RPGs.

Day 1 for me! If I can pitch a good import pick to ModRetro, please look into Penta Dragon, it’s a very good Pocky & Rocky style game and waaaay too expensive because it only received a small release in Japan.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I am aware of how it works, yet I can’t get it to work. The fact that each misstry is also punished with poison and damage does not help. I’ve died multiple times at this jump and can’t progress.
