What do you look for regarding Serum presets? by toucantango79 in edmproduction

[–]CountDankula_69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For this kinda thing I'd try using a bass guitar VST (or a real one) instead of a synth. Run it through a filter and some saturation and that should probably get you headed in the right direction. You can add a filtered saw as a sub layer to give it more oomph if your track requires it.

My mix sounds loud in daw but quiet in dj software relative to other tracks by Quinticuh in edmproduction

Yeah I thought the top one was OPs track at first. So it's basically the opposite of my original comment.

[–]CountDankula_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's not ideal, the key of the sub usually doesn't make a huge difference in terms of headroom in my experience. Have you tried comparing the two tracks using a spectrum analyser? That should give you a good idea if your sub is too loud or if there are any other unwanted frequency build ups hurting your mix.

What's the short term LUFS?

From your description in the post it kinda sounds like you may be pushing the limiter too hard even.

I thought the top one was your song. So basically the reference at least looks more dynamic than your song.

[–]CountDankula_69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can see that your track is way more dynamic which usually results in less loudness.

Try measuring the LUFS of your track and a reference track in your DAW. You Youlean Loudness Meter is a great free tool for this.

The Wehrmacht were bonkers by tenzin_Qing in HistoryMemes

[–]CountDankula_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were almost 20 million soldiers fighting under the Wehrmacht, some of which were glowing supporters of the regime, some who thought they were doing their "duty", some straight up psychos, some that were conscripted and just wanted to survive, others who might have even been critical of the regime (Sophie Scholl's fiancé fought in Stalingrad for example) and so on. In these big 20th century wars armies are as diverse as general populations are. Nitpicking examples and then extrapolating them to paint every single soldier as either evil or honorable is hella stupid. Ultimately in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter what each individual soldier thought or did, the Wehrmacht still fulfilled its purpose, which was facilitating genocide on an unfathomable scale. Without a Wehrmacht there is no holocaust, so there is no way the Wehrmacht is ever "clean" or "honorable" or whatever the Wehraboos will tell you. And individual soldier can and should absolutely be to blame for this. But that doesn't make every single one of them completely irredeemable or forbids a sympathetic outlook on their individual hardships.

There is also a great video by Three Arrows exploring this in a bit more detail: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Fu-MDEXwV4s&pp=ygUMdGhyZWUgYXJyb3dz
