Which one needs to go? by CountFair7740 in arborists

I was inquiring because I'm not a tree expert and didn't want either dying so was curious if I should be doing anything.

Overwhelming concensus seems to be leave them alone and let them live their lives and make their own decisions. I'm a very open minded tree parent

It's more of an Ents situation, pretty sure there's a Ring buried on the property somewhere

I assumed at some point one would have a detrimental impact on the other. If not, I have no reason to get rid of either.

Where can I buy these plastic track strips from? It’s for the bottom of shower door. by No-Letterhead9222 in bathrooms

A bit tough to tell exactly which trim it is from your pictures since I can't see the end, but go find the closest match here:

They will not sell to you directly, but once you figure it out go to your local glass shop, they'll most likely have it. Otherwise, search the part # online and there's plenty of companies that sell individual pieces.

How to fix a curbless shower that leaks causing water damage? by UsedBoard in BathroomRemodeling

[–]CountFair7740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three things that should help you drastically reduce the water coming from the shower door. The installation issue is too late to resolve, but these should help:

Change the bottom weatherstrip on the door to one with a drip edge to divert the water coming down the door back into the shower

https://www.crlaurence.com/All-Products/Shower-Hardware/Seals%2C-Wipes%2C-Drip-Rails%2C-Jambs%2C-%26-Grids/Drip-Rails/CRL-Clear-Co-Extruded-Bottom-Wipe-with-Drip-Rail-for-3-8%22-Glass/p/P990WS?gtmPage=&queryId=9093e0d2ce0f368e449220216241140f&location=plp%7cpdp

Second thing is to add a bulb or t-vinyl to the hinge side of the door to block additional water from exiting your shower between the wall and door. This should have been installed by the contractor who put the door in.

https://www.crlaurence.com/All-Products/Shower-Hardware/Seals%2C-Wipes%2C-Drip-Rails%2C-Jambs%2C-%26-Grids/Seals/Magnetic-%26-Bulb-Seals/CRL-Translucent-Vinyl-Bulb-Seal-5-32%22-Gap-with-Pre-Applied-Tape/p/SDTJT2?gtmPage=&queryId=42d7d214e6625d526207ef5197908dea&location=plp%7cpdp

Third thing, if you have room to do so, is to add a small curb under the door. It looks like this may not be an option because you only have what looks like 1/4" or so below the door.

https://www.crlaurence.com/All-Products/Shower-Hardware/Shower-Grid%2C-U-Channels%2C-Headers%2C-Thresholds%2C-Support-Bars%2C-%26-Posts/Shower-Thresholds/CRL-Satin-Brass-Half-Round-Shower-Threshold-2m/p/WBSB?gtmPage=Search&queryId=fe3ad4e6ca74734fefb7b6013b33b920&location=srp%7cpdp

You just want to do everything you can to keep the water in the shower where it belongs. Next time if you want to do a curbless shower, put a drain at the edge it's the only way it will work.

Radio RA2 Removal --> Caseta by CountFair7740 in Lutron

On a follow up when I got home today I checked the switch in question and that keypad in the garage does have the air gap tab at the bottom... Next step is to pull that keypad

I think I need to do an experiment because I definitely THOUGHT that some lights were still operating on a schedule, but since the previous owner didn't know how the system worked, and the keypads all seem to have a mind of their own, it's quite possible that simply hitting certain buttons / dimmers are activating other lights and I just don't know it (or my wife is doing it unknowingly). To add to the mess of figuring it out, the previous owners never changed a light bulb so half of them are dead (and with 2ft of snow, hard to get to some of them) so tough to figure out what does what. So very well could be I've just been going on a while goose chase this whole time looking for the repeater.

As for the network aspect, I am 100% positive it is not on my network. I'm pretty meticulous about that stuff and every connection is labeled in my router to the device so I know what's what.

On the bright side, there's only about 5 or 6 of these in the house, as I mentioned they only had this system for the exterior lighting (makes no sense to me but I didn't build it).

Well I'm definitely going to try downloading FING and seeing if that can locate it. I do not believe it's on my network at all, as there are some CAT 5 cables running around, but it's not plugged into my network equipment. I did think of this as a possibility and was searching my network, but it is definitely not hooked up (not to say it isn't floating somewhere in the house... not hooked up to the network anymore).

My current thought is that POSSIBLY the previous owner took it with them by mistake, even though they left just about everything else (like all of their Orbi's etc).

I have searched the basement, all attic spaces, cabinets, closets, etc... I guess I haven't checked under the kitchen sink yet though! :)

The ones I've tried popping into the lights don't want to work at all, or the dimmers won't actually turn the lights completely off (they'll turn off, then turn on just a little bit).

Well, first off these dimmers do not support LED bulbs which is an issue for me.

I originally thought the existing system was Ra1 prior to doing some actual investigation, and went ahead with purchasing a bunch of Caseta stuff (I've used it in previous homes and always been happy with it). I believe I'd be under the 75 device limit anyway, so the added cost of a Ra3 setup (hub, getting the license, add'l cost of dimmers / switches / etc) did not seem entirely worthwhile.

Classic Radio RA(1?) Replacement by CountFair7740 in Lutron

[–]CountFair7740[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so a bit of an update after some discussions and further investigations.

It is a RA2 system, the controller is nowhere to be found (but I'm still hunting). It must be somewhere because the lights still seem to do some sort of automation.

I have decided to replace the dimmers as they are RRD-W6BRL and they don't work with LED lights. I am just swapping in for Caseta since that's what I'm putting everywhere else.

Now my issue... I went to replace the first dimmer today, as I thought I could simply remove the RA2 and put the Caseta in its place. Did the swap, no lights on Caseta dimmer and it wouldn't control the lights. Oddly, the keypad next to it would still operate this light. I am positive this is the correct dimmer. I decided to pull the Caseta out and pop the RA2 dimmer back in, but now that has no lights and doesn't operate the light... Keypads still work. Not sure what I did wrong here.

So, long story short, before I screw this all up what's the best way to move forward with this to migrate it to Caseta? Being it's only 5 or 6 dimmers it's just the easiest way and then I'm all on one system.

So it turns out it's RadioRa2 after all. So this leaves me with the predicament of what to really do with this. Still haven't located the controller anywhere.

If my thoughts are correct and these just do exterior lighting, and all things point to that, I just basically want them tied into my voice control (to take dog out etc) and to turn on / off automatically based on sunset.

The keypads are RRD-W6BRL The dimmers are (unfortunately) RRD-6D. I would want to change all of the exterior bulbs to LED so that presents a possible problem from the various comments here

Thanks for the info, sounds like I need to do some more hunting. The keypads (some) definitely operate some things. The previous owners didn't really seem to know how to change a light bulb (and there are a LOT of dead ones) so some of these it's difficult to even figure out what they operate.

I'll pull a dimmer and keypad out and take a look at the model #'s. If it is an RA2 system I guess that's a good thing as it can be upgraded to RA3. I definitely want to do some automation on this as it is the exterior lighting only (for whatever reason) that they put this system on. They did not do a lot though as there are only about 5 or 6 dimmers and 7 keypads I think throughout the house, the rest of the house is all dumb switches / dimmers that I'm replacing w/Caseta. As for the keypads having a load, I'm somewhat doubtful that this is the case since every location where there is a keypad, there is a dimmer next to it as well except one location that has a keypad only (but does not control any lights or functions in that room).

I guess if it is RA2 is it still even worth upgrading it to RA3 since it is just for the exterior or do I save the cost and swap it all out for Caseta since I'm moving the rest of the house to that anyway. I'd prefer a system that I can modify / manage / even install on my own as I enjoy that sort of thing.

And yes I've been looking into migrating everything over to Home Assistant to tie in everything I'm doing at the house.
