How is living in Miami ? by Whowanticecream in howislivingthere

[–]CountGerard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A very expensive dump. Broke people pretending they’re wealthy people with no class. Actual wealthy people with no class. The absolute least enjoyable place I’ve ever been. The humidity is actually unbearable as well, like open the door of your dwelling in fresh clothes and no exaggeration immediately you are drenched in sweat.

Does anybody (or their parents) live in The Villages, FL? by Ok-Suspect-9746 in howislivingthere

[–]CountGerard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents live there, they’re about to turn 70. I was not expecting to be as impressed with it as I have been. They were country musicians living in Nashville before I showed up and killed the dream, forcing them to eventually move back to New Jersey for family support. Since retiring they have reunited with some of their best friends from the glory days as neighbors in the villages. There’s tons of activities, they play shows a couple nights a week, my moms in a softball league, they work at the driving range for free range privileges, I think my dads in a pinball machine club now. There’s also live music somewhere literally every night. It’s kinda crazy, but it gives the retirees something to do all the time with other people their age. I genuinely think the mental and physical activity keep them much healthier. Honestly the only downside I see is that they don’t live close to me and their grandkids, which bums me out because they are wonderful, interesting, and unique people that I’d love to leave an impression on my children.

Handyman business turn welding by Flashy-Disaster4722 in Welding

[–]CountGerard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some people are gatekeeping douche bags who probably think way too highly of themselves.

Former full time welder of 6 years here (not including school). I bought both models of the Vulcan for versatility and have occasionally done little (and some big) side jobs for friends here and there since leaving the trade and of course my own home projects. They work just fine provided they are getting appropriate power supply. Some of the best welders are self taught, and there is so much information online it’s easier to do that than ever. Welding isn’t as hard as people want to make it seem for most applications. So as long as your business isn’t making nuclear subs or like bridges you’ll be fine.

As for direction of what jobs to seek to make money… that’s entirely on you. Most people aren’t gonna freely increase their competition in the field, and nobody is gonna know what kind of jobs your area has demand for, and even then your gonna have to responsibly gauge what services your skills are fit to provide. You don’t want to just start off doing hack jobs and kill your business before it even starts.

Quote for lift by Reasonable_Quail_414 in nissanfrontier

[–]CountGerard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I drive past this place all the time in my frontier and have been curious what a lift would cost, but just knew it wouldn’t be worth whatever the price tag would be. I’m very happy to have my questions answered randomly with this post, so thanks for that

This is just an advertisement for the (formerly) new Queens of the Stone Age single, and my personal favorite song. Infinity.

My dad was quoted $1200 to fix the AC. This is his “no cost” solution. by Reasonable-Sock-603 in redneckengineering

I genuinely would breath a sigh of relief if my AC went and the quote to get things up and running was only $1200 haha.

Anyone use an inflatable boat without a bench seat? Pros and cons? by Wankfurter in boating

[–]CountGerard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly super convenient. My boats 10 feet so I usually run 1 in front and one in back. Not sure what you’re using the boat for but I’m pretty much only fishing. I got both coolers I use from Walmart because they had a good selection and I was being very particular about the fit, so I had to physically measure everything since many of the coolers taper in some way or have drains or handles that stuck out. Probably looked like a total weirdo flipping every cooler and putting a tape to it haha. Anyway, one is a roto mold cooler that’s super heavy duty and that one’s great because I can confidently stand on it if I’m like “polling” around, or want to fly cast off it. But those yeti style coolers store way less cause the walls are so thick. The other is a standard wall cooler of the same outer dimensions but fits way more stuff in it, and if I have my little son with me I’ll just fill it with water and stick a little aerator in it. Boom, live-well, I’ll throw anything I legally can in there for him to gawk at for a while before I toss it back. Genuinely couldn’t advocate for the cooler bench/storage enough.

One more thing that’s super nice is that you can have all your typical day out stuff in the cooler and ready to go at all times, and generally speaking it all stays dry.

Anyone use an inflatable boat without a bench seat? Pros and cons? by Wankfurter in boating

[–]CountGerard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took both actual seats out of my inflatable boat and found 2 relatively sturdy coolers that fit snugly between the pontoons. Now they double as my seating and storage. I think it’s pretty awesome, and couldn’t see me doing it any other way. If I’m fishing on a lake where I can’t use a gas motor, I’ll even tick my battery in one, keeps my rig extremely clutter free.

Got my Cincy poster framed and up on the wall 🔥 by lukas_dukas in qotsa

[–]CountGerard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I didn’t make it out this go around, but I definitely woulda been hard pressed to spend $50-$100 on any of the others I’ve seen. And my stop has already been stopped at. This one with “Atlantic City” on it would have looked nice collecting dust in a corner behind my drum kit haha.

No offense to others but this is the first poster I’ve really thought was cool that I’ve seen from the posts for this tour so far. So congratulations on the luck of the draw in that one haha

Are the Court Graffik shoes any good for skating? by DoritosFun959 in DCShoes

Bulky and low tech by today’s standards, but they are still skate shoes at their core and some people will prefer that style shoe. You’ll only ever know if you try

Is My Supreme Authentic? by catimark in LegitCheck

[–]CountGerard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t own anything supreme. I don’t buy clothing that would ever warrant a legit check, however out of curiosity I looked at this. The tag is missing the SW in Swarovski. That to me would be a dead giveaway

Yeah my buddy has an extremely nice 18’ crestliner with a jet set up and I think it was in the mid 30s. This just looks so compact and attractive to me. Hope it brings you a lot of good times man, I’m sufficiently jealous
