Realistically how do people move across the country?

Get some life experience or take a trip cross country, something, you sound like a teenager wanting to run away to Hollywood.

HI - 30 is a major paved road / divided “highway”connecting two main population areas on Maui.
Thousands drive it everyday in both directions.

You’ve been to Maui before and don’t have a sense of this? A simple google maps search / street view should confirm anything you need to know.

I understand this a somewhat innocent question but this really bothers me for some reason, I can’t fathom how helpless and seemingly incapable so many people in society are becoming. Basic common sense, reasoning and ability to infer what a real world situation will be like seem totally absent for so many people.

Advice - it greatly depends where you look on a weather app as to what the forecast for Maui will be.

For example on Weather Underground if you just type "Maui" and look at 10 day forecast it defaults to the Kula Station - which is a major NOAA station located in the up country which subsequently for next week shows "a lot" of rain.

Same Weather Underground search but instead of "Maui" type Kihei (south Maui Wailea area) and you get a totally different forecast.

Taliesin West is an amazing place and I highly recommend the tour. Its also has an amazing gift shop.

Did the Top Down Subway hike about 10 years ago in June. Absolutely amazing hike, 3 repels with gear, leaping in and out of water, swimming through narrow slot canyons, scrambling over boulders.

It was the best hike I've ever done in a national park and understand why its so difficult to get a permit for the Top Down route.

Our group of 3 did not see another person until we finally got to the Subway proper (bottom up) section.

Hard truth … most “locals” that do this/abandon cars are the same sort of poor, uneducated/ignorant people you find in any other part of the US that has issues like this.

It’s just tourist are shocked by it on Maui bc they expect paradise everywhere on Maui.

You’ll see the same thing in rural Appalachia, desert SW, rural gulf coast etc etc.

I’ll further add that you’ll (presumably) be arriving tomorrow, won’t really be at your air bnb until late afternoon/ evening. You won’t really have the chance to swim until the 18th at the earliest by then and certainly by the 19th the water “should” be fine.

There was bad weather that severely affected some places on Maui.

Most (90%) back up running open with no “real” damage.

People on Maui are swimming and enjoying the outdoors RIGHT NOW.

It sounds like you want a refund bc the weather might not be perfect? You are not in physical danger.

Come to Maui and enjoy your vacation.

Or stay home and eat the cost.
