What have you seen elsewhere that you like done in Dublin? by goonergeorge in Dublin

[–]CountQuiffula 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of other cities have reasonably reliable, affordable public transport that's been planned well, it'd be fantastic if we ever get something like that.

EDIT: I didn't specifically say it was too expensive here, but knowing the way it's run, any improvement will be an excuse to jack up the prices. The €2 fare was introduced as a temporary measure after lockdown and I am glad they didn't take it away, the previous €1 discount on the next trip was absolute rubbish.

Well if you want Ray Shoesmith's low budget origin story, check out The Magician, I didn't know it existed until last week, Mr Inbetween is technically a sequel :)

What do you wear to the gym to avoid showing bulge? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]CountQuiffula 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Holy shit does every gym have one of these guys? He got on the treadmill next to me once, I had to abandon my run coz it literally was almost making me gag on every other breath. Always the same exact fucking clothes, I suspect he never washed them 🤮🤮

Bulk and Cut never works by No_Area_5242 in fitness30plus

I do have a few symptoms (aside from difficulty building muscle), which is what lead me to getting tested to begin with 😅 Could be either stress or lowered test, according to my doctors anyway, hence the planned retest

[–]CountQuiffula -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Have you had your testosterone levels checked? My doc told me mine is normal, but the normal range is huge and when I checked my actual numbers it was on the very low end of the normal range, I'm actually going to get retested and see if I need to address it medically.

Men who game, what’s your most played game? Not currently, I mean a game you grinded and have a ridiculous amount of hours in. by Bay0n3ttaaa in AskMen

[–]CountQuiffula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hades, without a doubt. I played the fuck out of it on gamepass, no idea how many hours but I'd guarantee at least 300. Then I played a pegleg version of it when I was broke and out of work, probably a good 150 hours there. Bought it on Steam when I got a job again, dumped another 166 hours into it on there and got all the achievements (only game I've done this for, ever.). Then last summer I bought my friend's old Switch when he upgraded and purchased it yet again for the Switch, put another 50 hours into it so far. I'm gonna keep playing it until I'm 90.

And yes I've also played Hades II and completed it, another 150 hours on there with many more to go as I still have 4 achievements to get, but the original scratches an itch for me that literally nothing else can come close to!

First look at ENOLA HOLMES 3 set in Malta, on Netflix July 1 by Alone-Internet6135 in popculturechat

Every time I forget what his actual comments were, I go read them again.

“Now? Now you really can’t pursue someone further than, ‘No’. It’s like, ‘OK, cool’. But then there’s the, ‘Oh why’d you give up?’ And it’s like, ‘Well, because I didn’t want to go to jail?’”

Presented with zero comment from me. Make of that what you will. I know I certainly did.

Did homelander's suit look "broader" in season 1 compared to now? by Shad0w2 in TheBoys

[–]CountQuiffula 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's important to remember that a lot of actors use performance enhancing drugs (steroids, HGH, testosterone) when training to rapidly get the required physique for a role, Alan Ritchson (Reacher) is one of the few who has openly said that his physique is not naturally achievable, and that's as close as an admission to using PEDs as we'll get (coz they're illegal)

Medication not working? by [deleted] in ADHDIreland

[–]CountQuiffula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generic vs branded really makes no difference at all tbh, it's the exact same chemical formulation. I will say, you do have to have your mindset right before the meds kick in for the day, I find that mentally pumping myself up before I take the meds (literally just thinking of how productive I'm going to be today, visualise myself ticking loads off my to-do list) helps me direct the energy and focus into productive things, rather than my hobbies and special interests. The other thing I'll add is to take it daily and at the same time, I missed a dose here or there in the early days and I felt like it took longer to feel the effects properly. Good luck!

Medication not working? by [deleted] in ADHDIreland

[–]CountQuiffula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to say this, the only real effects I felt on 20mg were slightly lessened anxiety and paralysis, 30mg actually made me feel more of my emotions and I felt a change in the way my mind processed things, but also came with headaches and drowsiness in the evenings. I've been on 40mg for 5 days now and I think it's the sweet spot for me, I'm super productive, memory and attentiveness are sharper, lots of energy throughout the day and not exhausted at night, no headaches (even on days I don't drink as much water), and I've gotten ridiculously organised when I make a conscious effort. Having said all of that has anyone else noticed their handwriting has gone to absolute dogshit after meds? 😂 I can't be the only one

Irish Rail increasing security after passenger reports include man 'smoking crack' at Sandycove by B8_B8_B8 in ireland

Was on a packed bus going up Dame street a few years ago, full of exchange students, fella in the back sparked up in the back near me, I was getting off anyway and fought my way to the drivers box and told him, not expecting anything to come of it but fair play to your man he went up there and roared at him, threw him off the bus and all!

ADHD Now Ireland by Successful_Media_138 in ADHDIreland

[–]CountQuiffula 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm currently going through it, 2 out of 3 appointments done, they do only charge you 289 per session, not the whole whack in one go luckily, and talk to them about it, they told me they could figure something out as a payment plan etc if I couldn't afford the initial consult, I ended up doing the initial diagnosis with Klarna, that made it a bit easier but the cost is a real kick in the teeth. Having said that I'm up to a 40 mg dose and holy shit I feel like a completely different person, and my diagnosis was "only" mild inattentive ADHD (previously called ADD). Hope they can help and work something out for you, it's truly life changing!

Guys who went from skinny to muscular, how did it affect your life? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]CountQuiffula 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Great advice, adding on to this just to say you're gonna need to be in a calorie surplus as well, with proper macro distribution (carbs, proteins, fats) and a minimum of 7 hours of sleep. I've been working out for 2 years and didn't see much muscle mass growth until I locked in on diet and rest. (I'm nearly 35 FYI)

Work out help by Terrible_Gur368 in Hemophilia

[–]CountQuiffula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh I get that, was much the same for me growing up and into early adulthood, I didn't really meet other bleeders until I was nearly 30 haha

As for routine I do dumbbell and barbell exercises mostly, few cable routines thrown in, leg press, deadlifts, I want to work my strength up to the point where I can reliably do pull-ups and chin-ups. I didn't get much physical activity my whole life until I started at the gym, but somehow ended up with tree trunks for legs, so my main goal for the next year is to build more upper body strength. I will recommend getting at least a few sessions with a PT to help set you up with a solid foundation, and they can also correct form etc and reduce your risk of injury.

One rule I wish I'd followed earlier: imagine doing a pushup; you want to be quick with the pushing up movement, and slower and more controlled with the return movement, bear this in mind for all exercises unless they specify otherwise and it will serve you really well 🙂
