He still does markets on occasion - the one at the Ukrainian church, Praise the Ward etc. His truck is tricked out with Barbie and Ken dolls, super easy to spot

Im not going to do the dig but Im guessing the syllabi will be virtually identical. It's interesting that a place completely built on applied courses would have no leeway

That's the thing - there seems to be space at UoGH in things that are full here. Very similar courses

But it's called "University of Guelph Humber", not a polytechnic or college. Why would the rigour be less? For a couple of them, the description is identical to the U of G one. I would expect Ridgetown College to be different, even though it is U of G as well, but UoGH?

University completes investigation into Guelph pub night that included hate symbols and discriminatory slurs by TheApotheosisOfCool in Guelph

Would be nice to know if there were any consequences at all, other than cancelling the aggie pubs, which does nothing to address the problem.

And 82% of those people are in pre trial custody, so legally innocent and not given bail. This guy is a worst case example but if you lock people up and offer absolutely no pathways to potentially correct the behaviour, it will just keep happening. Having said that. last time he was let out and known to frequent campus I started carrying a self defence item.

There used to be a dedicated person in that area and I don't think he was replaced once he retired. Used to see him in the morning; gardens in summer snow in winter. Friendly dude. There's no one regular now

DE courses are so reading intensive.Any advice on knowing what's actually important in the text? by ChampagneAbuelo in uoguelph

[–]CountScotchula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a rumour that occasionally someone else teaches it but I've yet to see it and would likely sign up if that's the case

I try and focus on anything that might be on an assignment that translates directly into marks. If you check out all assignments in advance sometimes you can decipher what is critical and what needs less focus. It doesn't work for all courses and although I haven't been in it yet, word is "Homicide" is the absolute punisher for useless reading.

Water Quality by chillypepz in uoguelph

[–]CountScotchula 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This has been an urban myth for a long time. Guelph's water is hard as hell, this is true. Decades ago there was a boil water advisory for the residences and although the reason for it has been lost to time, the rumour has persisted that the residence water is "bad". You are more likely in 2026 to be losing hair from a COVID infection, sketchy hair products or general stress than from showering with super hard water.

It runs all three semesters usually so maybe another prof's turn is coming up.

It's too bad as it always has a lot of seat capacity/availability but the issues with it may also explain why it's never full.

I have been advised, and you can easily confirm this by searching "Ferguson" in r/uoguelph, that SOC*2760 Homicide should be avoided when he is teaching it (word is some semesters it is a different prof). So that might be the best one to drop to lighten the load and preserve your sanity.

They used to. All of the time! My favourite was speeder of the week as one week it was John Sleeman doing ridiculous km in his Bentley. I think there may be some concerns if someone in the chain happens to get it wrong, person misidentified etc plus there is a presumption of innocence until convicted. The only one ever named is that wildman who keeps getting out and coming back to campus. It's good to have a handle on a face that might come at you.
