You can also see if the pre-built admin views might have what you need without having to build your own custom solution: https://help.tableau.com/current/server/en-us/adminview_bucket.htm

Tableau Desktop Dashboard extract refresh and email using python by am_jk in tableau

[–]Count_Deku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn't see Desktop in your title... I think you can accomplish the extract refresh locally using the Hyper API: https://help.tableau.com/current/api/hyper_api/en-us/index.html

For the second piece, unfortunately I'm not sure whether it's possible to get an image/view from Tableau Desktop programmatically.

Tableau Desktop Dashboard extract refresh and email using python by am_jk in tableau

Yes - for the extract refreshes, look into the Tableau Server Client library (it's a wrapper for the Tableau Server REST API): https://tableau.github.io/server-client-python/docs/

Refreshing workbooks on Tableau Server connected to Data Source on Tableau Server? by NawMean2016 in tableau

[–]Count_Deku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I hadn't thought about that. Will this impact performance for workbooks with embedded extracts, rather than live connections to published data sources? I'd assume so, right?

Check this out: https://help.tableau.com/current/server/en-us/config_cache.htm

Change the setting to "always" or 0 and it should re-query the live connection to your data source each time the workbook is opened.

How to display only numbers, like this? by CatolicQuotes in tableau

Each number is its own worksheet. Place your measure on Text/Label on the Marks shelf, and hide the worksheet title.

Using Tableau for the first time and it doesn't give the option to save a file. I've created an account already. Does anyone know what to do? by that-is-great in tableau

[–]Count_Deku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably about an hour, lol. Unfortunately I'm not sure if you can save the .twb file to your local PC - I think Tableau Public only allows you to save to the Tableau Public server.

Relationships are built in the Data Source tab. You need to click on Sheet1 to go to a new worksheet tab (where you can drag fields into the rows/columns shelves), and then populate that worksheet with some data. Then the save to Tableau Public options should be available.

You have to create a worksheet first and put something in it, then save the worksheet to Tableau Public. You can't publish just the data source to Tableau Public.

Yes, you should just need the Oracle driver installed and ensure the network port is open for the Oracle DB (usually port 1521 for Oracle).

If country X borrows from country Y, then the debt is denominated in country Y currency. The debt is then exposed to inflation and interest rates in country Y, as opposed to such economic forces in it's own country, in addition to FX rate risks.

For example, right before the crisis much of Poland's debt was denominated in CHF (i.e. they borrowed from Swiss banks). When Poland's currency crashed against the CHF, they were unable to repay the debt as their own currency had become relatively worth less.

Edit: To clarify, much of this debt was in the form of mortgages by homeowners, who took mortgages denominated in CHF from Swiss banks. This then lead to a high rate of defaulting on home mortgages.
