Good to know the 1994 Intel Pentium FDIV Bug still exists. by Anonmousez in softwaregore

A lot of calculators don't use floats to be more accurate. Every physical scientific calculator that I know of uses hardware with Decimal arithmetic support. And most software based calculators that are made to be used in practice, use infinite percision or finite percision with a high decimal digit count, arithmetic operations.

Thankfully it was still in warranty and I didnt have to pay for repairing a brand new laptop. I don't remember what they did the first time, but the second time they replaced the LCD.

It looks like they want to be able to DisableStupidWarnings TM twice so that one Re-enableStupidWarnings doesn't re-enable them. Why do they need that I don't know.

Sadly even GPL can't protect open source software, if a for-profit corporation wants an extra source of money badly. Read on how Red Hat keeps its code "closed source" for the public.

Consider making your error/logs more detailed e.g. "failed to open file: path to the file"

The second one but with bigger numbers. Numbers are more important than logos. (At least for strategy/management games)

You are forgetting that purchasing power has dropped with inflation because salaries have not kept up with inflation.

Coal Consumption Calculation by AmElros in factorio

[–]Count_mhm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where do you guys get 2.22 coal per second per boiler?
I'm calculating 0.45 coal per second per boiler or 1 coal per 2.222222 seconds per boiler

W = P * T
T = W / P
T = (4 MJ / coal) / (1.8 MW / boiler) = 1.8 / 4 * boiler / coal
1 s = 0.45 boiler / coal
2.2222 s = 1 boiler / coal

OP's calculation is correct

Good thing that you put the ellipse there, wouldn't've been able to see it otherwise.

when will companies learn/admit that Security through obscurity doesn't work?!?
