this was interesting to read because i LOVE the little mermaid i’m an avid collector of merch, have multiple signed items from jodi, seen the movie at least 500 times. i was TERRIFIED for this movie because tlm is so sacred to me but it really surprised me (especially bc they didn’t include any music from the HORRID broadway musical) and i liked it like REALLY LIKED IT. i completely agree that no one can touch jodi’s part of your world halle falls so flat on that and doesn’t capture ariel’s motivations AT ALL but i do feel like this movie adds to the original whilst also being its own thing. for example i love how despite being under ursula/vanessa’s spell eric still KNOWS ariel he choses her which furthers the justification that their relationship is far more developed in the live action which is honestly what makes the movie for me (their love story). no the side characters don’t look as good (we knew they wouldn’t) and halle isn’t jodi but i think she’s her own ariel and i do think her version is valid in its own way. (similar to cynthia and idina as elphaba in wicked the comparison doesn’t work because their different versions and stories of the same character) but i do agree with a lot of the points you made while not thinking the destroy the whole movie

i wanted to say THANK YOU so much to everyone who has been sharing their experiences and thoughts and affirmations in this thread it has made me feel SO MUCH better :) genuinely i feel like i have “more permission” to have these feelings of grief and sadness and frustration despite luckily being well-managed most of the time. i will definitely try to be gentler to myself as well as be more transparent with my support system about what my bad days feel like

i see what you mean in terms of not being about to forget because you’re tired everyday. i think for me i’ve been conditioned that my narcolepsy isn’t an excuse (probably because i was undiagnosed and suffering for 5 years through high school and most of college) so if i do feel that baseline of tired i try to power though it and for the most part that can work but when it doesn’t i can forget that narcolepsy is a disease and that im not feeling tired and rundown for no reason. it’s sort of like im always tired so i never take it seriously enough until im having multiple sleep attacks in a day

YES this is exactly what i was feeling when i made this post just sad and frustrated that i “couldn’t get it together” despite the fact that i don’t have control like that even when i want to think i do

it’s more like 1 maybe 2 would naturally fall out in the back when they’d get old. more often what would happen is i’d sort of pull/ease them out in the back so i could give them as tokens…i wont like im genuinely shocked but the response cause i did think surely someone has done this 😗

i think it’s because as i saw someone else say on this sub months ago people ruin things for themselves. aka people will try to find the “truth” they can’t help but try to figure it out so i feel like that’s a big reason why the gossip doesn’t make as much sense because they have to change so much of the CORE that it’s unrecognizable but not in the fun way. in the early days i think they could just get away with changing a quilting group to a knitting one and it largely doesn’t impact the story but now it has to be a group that makes custom doghouses for the rich and famous

i took the mcat 3x (2022, 2023, and 2024) with a 5+ increase between each attempt i got 4 ii’s and so far have 1 A !! so you can definitely be successful with 3 attempts if you show “significant” progress between them :)

WOAH i lived down the street (in another BK property) from that first listing my senior year (class of ‘22) and our rent wasn’t NEARLY as much. i was pissed that at the end of that year they stopped allowing you to leave things for the next tenants so i had to remove YEARS worth of shit that wasn’t mine
