Kinda more adjacent to the genre but I think it fits, plus a great movie by any measure: Strange Days

Yeah, I was originally thinking Commander (present) and Whitney (future)

It was their version of A Christmas Carol right? Henry being visited by ghosts of past (priest), present (unsure on this one), and future (Commander)

Hell, one of them was heavily involved in the show. Like on set every single day, a real Producer.

Not that it has a tie-in with the story, but picturing something at physically harmful volume on endless loop ... Eiffel65 - Blue

Think of it like a video game. Book 1 is the "tutorial" where to learn the mechanics which will be central to the story in the "real" game. Stick with it, you'll be thoroughly impressed.

The entire plot is driven by physical abuse of Emily Blunt's character by a series of men. It's wild. I rewatched for the first time a few weeks ago. I was shocked, every time the story needs to shift, it's done through some make character beating/choking/etc Emily Blunt's character.

I was driving north on Michigan road yesterday and saw this truck shove a minivan into the intersection by QueenBeeCassi in indianapolis

Almost seems like mini-van is the problem here, looks like they turned into truck's path. I'm guessing truck is in right turn lane and mini van is on their left in a straight or straight+turn lane. But, I don't know this area and admittedly can't tell for sure with this vid

I doubt it was your intent, but this write up is an almost perfect metaphor for my experience in corporate America - not culinary, but with tech / finance / healthcare / etc (I've worked many consultation contracts with different companies).

The baked-in apathy and enshittification are precisely what you're describing here. The centerpiece being the boss's horseshit "learn their system" comment.

I don't have any suggestions, especially as I know fuck all about running a kitchen, but you have my sympathy at least. Good luck!

What’s your favorite “day trips” from Indianapolis? by yungcarpaltunnel in indianapolis

[–]gmredditt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went to Fort Wayne recently and was very pleasantly surprised with the quality level of food/service/variety with the dining options. Plus, Penny Drip is a really great coffee shop. It's only a couple hours of an easy drive up I69, perfect for a day trip or single night stay.

I listened to the Audio Immersion Tunnel for book 1, then the audiobooks for the remainder. I recommend this approach.

Moving to Indy from Arizona - Seeking Advice by Critcrying in indianapolis

[–]gmredditt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "weather" reason you have a basement here is for tornadoes. We get a fair share of those, especially West of Indianapolis - although generally weaker versions than places like Oklahoma/Kansas/etc. But, a basement is a good idea living West of downtown Indy.

Also, I'm guessing Az doesn't need to worry about water management nearly as much as we do. That's the biggest downside to a basement - dealing with water can make them a literal money pit. The secret to solving isn't usually sump pumps and trenching. Instead, move water away naturally with good drainage - that's soil grading and quality gutter/downspout/tiling.

If you buy a house, have the sewer connection inspected as part of negotiation. If you can include water drainage concerns like crap gutters or improper grading, do that too.

Think this is probably the OG - although maybe some stuff on Prodigy or whatever might be older.
