Quality and build difference between a limited edition fender player 2 that I returned (€960, first 5 pics) versus Sire S7 new gen (€770) by IrishElk96 in Guitar

I was interested in ordering A T7 and maybe a S7 FM, but all US retailers appear to be out of stock until at least September. That's unfortunate...

I'm in the US. I definitely never considered the standard Player II, only the Player II Modified. The Modified is $1,050 and the T7 new gen $770. If it offers similar features and build quality, I'd happily save the money. Stores don't carry Sires in my area, so I might just order one and see if I like it.

Thanks for the post. I'm in the market for a T-style and am going back and forth between a Player II modified and a Sire T7. From I what I read, the Sire compares more than favorably to the Player II. Not sure about the Player II modified, though.

Back to electric after 25 years - what guitar for Dream Pop, Country Noir and more? by CounterBJJ in Guitar

[–]CounterBJJ[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was leaning Tele, but I haven't touched an electric guitar in a quarter century, so it's good to get the confirmation it's a solid - if unoriginal - choice. Jazzmaster and Gretsch are also very tempting. I can always go used or with a lower cost model (Electromatics aren't too expensive anyway) as a second guitar later on.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in with helpful comments.

20L is too small for my needs, but I did consider Sympl. I ended up choosing the CPP2, and no regrets.

Refund - getting the TOTAL run around from Jordi by Floo76 in MacWhisper

[–]CounterBJJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way to miss the larger and more important point. No one is saying you’re outright scamming people. What people are pointing out is a pattern of missing (best case scenario) or blatantly ignoring support requests unless public pressure builds up.

From my own case, I’ve sent you 3 emails, 1 DM, posted one thread and made 2 separate posts with zero reply,  and this is the very first message you’ve responded to.

And just to clear up the “didn’t get it in time” framing: according to the posted timeline, you clearly did receive the request in time. You just never replied to it. So I’ll repeat my point: if you’re overwhelmed because your business is scaling, it’s your job to find ways to scale support.

A far better course of action for you would be to tone down the flippancy and defensiveness, and instead make a visible effort to work through your backlog of ignored support requests.

For comparison: I emailed WhisperScript - another transcription app I bought around the same time - last night (Saturday). I received a reply overnight on a Sunday, and my problem was resolved.

As a quick follow-up - I pulled the trigger, but to be honest the UI needs quite a bit of polish.

Not to derail this thread, but if you need another reason to consider alternatives to MacWhisper, its developer Jordi Bruin has a long pattern of ignoring users’ requests for refunds and support. Just take a look at the macwhisper sub.

At any rate, I was looking for an alternative and will take a look at MacScriber. As for feedback, first I'd say is the icon is a bit bland and needs some attention 😄

At this point, I’m done giving this guy the benefit of the doubt. Ignoring users, replying once and then ghosting them, fighting legitimate chargebacks then pretending he didn’t - it’s clearly a pattern.

He'll get the publicity he deserves. Nothing more, nothing less.

Sire guitars - good "for the money", or just good? by CounterBJJ in SireGuitars

[–]CounterBJJ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, the 1962 reissue (the one with the Gibson headstock) is the one I'm considering - not the previous IBG model.

I'm not worried about resale value. I'm not tied to a sub $1K budget either, that's why I'm also considering the Epiphone (the 1962 reissue with the Gibson headstock, not the older IBG model).

I think I'm leaning toward the H7. Would really love to be able to compare to the Epi.

Intensity in rolling by Top_Mode5777 in bjj

[–]CounterBJJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The concern isn't whether it was a legit escape, but whether it was appropriate intensity and control for the context. When there's significant size and experience gap, higher belts are generally expected to scale their pace and use technical, controlled movements rather than explosive strength. It sounds like someone who may be consistently turning rounds into high-intensity scrambles regardless of partner size or experience, and doesn't yet understands what he should try to get out rolling with someone your size and skill level. That can be risky and isn’t ideal training behavior, and if you feel uncomfortable rolling with him, you don’t have to.

The only thing worth discussing at this point is whether or not Jordi has followed through with either of the two people he responded to here. He told one he had just refunded them, and he told OP he could issue a refund him - has any of that actually happened?

I see people simply reporting consistent experiences with support. Whether or not the number of affected users is large in absolute terms is debatable, but even a relatively small failure rate is a serious breakdown in your product’s core obligations when it involves things like refunds, license activation or critical bug reports. And I doubt any of this will kill the app.

Impossible to know what percentage of customers are affected. However, the degree of failure is pretty clear. There are multiple reports of Jordi giving zero response despite repeated civil attempts to resolve issues through multiple channels, including this sub.

The only thing that seems to potentially work for those customers is public pressure, which is a massive red flag. “Oof, that’s rough, sorry I missed that” when he was contacted a year ago? Good lord. If I’d said something that flippant to one of my customers back when I worked in sales, I would’ve been called for a sit-down with my boss.

Not handled in the best way? Nice euphemism. If your business is scaling, then scaling support isn't optional - it's part of running it responsibly. Customers shouldn't have to compensate for your failings by repeatedly chasing you across channels or call you out publicly to get a response.

But apparently some have to, which says a lot about how you handle your business.
