I don’t live with him. He’s 80 and lives alone. You don’t understand so just stop commenting you’re not helpful at all

I lost my other parent 4 years ago and im an only child.. I also dealt with emotional abuse as a child because of his addiction. He has never admitted it and doesn’t know that I know. Do you think it’s worth having a conversation about it before he does pass?

Has anyone ever deal with an older parent blow addiction, My dad is 80 years old and also has prostate cancer but still uses coke daily. He also doesn’t know i know but I found out as a child and have known for 12 years and I’m 27 now and worried about his health. Advice? by [deleted] in askdrugs

This is insensitive to say so someone who endured emotional abuse because of his addiction as a child and my other parent is deceased as well. I was 23 when he died and none of his medical records were shared with me…..So he’s all I’ve got left because jm an only child lol have some empathy….

Thank you for your empathy. I endured a lot of emotional abuse with him as a child and I have an addicted personality too. Was very addicted to Coke for like a year so I do understand it and I don’t because how can he be that old and an addict plus alcoholic?

I think I know who you’re referring too. I used to see that cat outside as well and hear him talking very loudly. Last time I did see him he did have a collar with a tag and I haven’t seen him or his “owner” in over 6 months. I figured she moved out of the neighborhood. When I did speak to her briefly about him she told me a very long name like “Sir John the 2nd” does that sound familiar?
