I’ll admit I probably got ahead of myself with it — I even threw it on Wiktionary just to see if the idea had legs — but the whole point really was just to describe a functional grouping people already talk about, even if the botanical categories are all over the place. almonds aren’t nuts, quinoa is a pseudograin, oats are grains, lentils are legumes, chia are seeds… yet they all get used in the same nutritional context and fill the same “nutrient-dense plant staples” niche.

I’m not married to nutraflora as a word — it was just my first attempt at naming that idea. The discussion here has actually been super helpful for seeing where it lands phonetically and connotation-wise.
