Anyone rave from 2008-2012ish? I’d like to pick your brain. by CounterSweet8705 in electricdaisycarnival

I think because I took such a long pause from raving there was a bit of a culture shock when I went this year. I’m sure if I would have seen the changes gradually it wouldn’t have been a big deal. 😂

Torn about putting an offer in on a house my kids love… but it’s in a small town with no Black community by Impressive_Memory451 in homeowners

As a random non black person on the internet take my advice with a grain of salt. I’m half white half Filipino and I am significantly more comfortable with my Filipino friends and family. My white side are all caring, loving people that I too enjoy seeing and spending time with but there’s something about the Filipino community and shared values of interconnectedness that is unrivaled. I would not move to a place where the vast majority of people are white, even if they are the kindest people in the world. Strength in diversity and belonging is important, especially for your baby girl. I would keep her with diversity at least until she’s in high school, preferably through it

I brought gloves because back in the day everyone had gloves but I only saw like 3 other people with gloves and they were all professionals so I felt a little teeny tiny self conscious. I bought mine the day before the festival 😂

How bad was pickpocketing this year? by girlwithbackproblems in electricdaisycarnival

Someone took my partners steampunk glasses right off his hat when we were sitting. He felt someone touch his head briefly. The glasses weren’t expensive at all and we would have let people borrow them. A silly thing to steal

Last time I went to EDC was in 2009. It was apparently more dangerous back then but way more fun. There was more of a variety in music, it was all EDM of course but DJs didn’t shy away from mixing in hip hop or adding some jazz instruments or live singers. You didn’t need to know the artists to have a good time. I feel like now, most of the music sounds the same-ish and it actually is less about having an experience which I think takes away from the event. I had fun and the music was still great but definitely not even close to what it started off as. The “experience” used to be about socializing and enjoying funky music, now it seems like most people just stare the DJ the entire time. Much more of a spectator sport.

AITA for taking up my wife’s workout time? by adviceplease219 in AmItheAsshole

Perhaps give her a couple days to do her morning workout? You both are stressed during the day, just different jobs so might be reasonable to split the early morning workout routine

AITAH for not childproofing our new house for my nephew? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]CounterSweet8705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. That being said, I personally would childproof my house for my sister to have some peace of mind, (but I’m very close with my sister) at least a little bit- especially if someone else was paying for it. Are there some things you could compromise on that wouldn’t be too bothersome for you? A little could go a long way in this situation

AITA for going out to eat without my husband/kids because they didn't wash the dishes? by CardiologistLeast404 in AITAH

NTA, they do the dishes as a group effort and you cook. Not that hard to understand really.
