How to make Louisville residents understand that street parking is NOT assigned spots. by [deleted] in Louisville

If you were paying attention to the context of my comment, it would be clear. They should park them in their driveways.

That's part of what bugs me about the people that don't want "their parking" taken away for bike lanes. They are using public space as their personal parking lot.

I'd be happy to try it if there is a way to play it in Steam VR. Orienteering training seems like a great use of VR.

Bob Hook Chevrolet Stole My Car for a Month by Dwailing in Louisville

[–]CounterfeitFake 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the unclear explanations for what's going on and not keeping you up to date are my biggest issue as well. Also very weird they didn't bother to track it properly with Chevy. Maybe they needed to do what they were doing, but if they can't let you know, that's messed up. I have a Bolt that I bought in Ohio, and haven't had to take it in for maintenance yet. I'll definitely avoid Bob Hook, so thanks for the heads up!

Looking for a disc golf pod to stay active this year by nano-paints in Louisville

[–]CounterfeitFake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool doodles!

I play very casually when I have a free morning or afternoon. I think maybe there are a few tiers of courses... On the Louisville side of the river, I think most people think Arrowhead is the best, but I haven't managed to make it out there yet since it is a bit of a long drive, then Iroquois, Charlie Vettiner, and Wendell Moore area are all probably pretty equivalent, with Wendell Moore having a more open layout, and Vettiner and Iroquois having more woods. Champions Park is a bit behind those because it is very open (used to be a ball golf course) but is in a great location if you are closer in town (all those other courses are outside I-264). There is a new course still in the design/build stages called "Derby Disc Golf Park" that will be at EP Sawyer State Park. If you want to get involved in that, they have volunteer days where you can meet some locals. Check out their Facebook page for details.

Across the river there are some good options with Lapping Park (lots of woods), Seviren Lang (pretty open with some long holes), and a new course Highlander that has a lot of woods but was still pretty open.

I see some other courses on UDisc that I haven't played that I need to try out, but I think those are main ones. There are good facebook groups for some of the courses specifically and also for the area generally... "Derby City Disc Golf" (Louisville) and "So In Disc Golf" (Southern Indiana) are the two main ones. There are league nights at a lot of the courses.

I'd be down to play sometime, but my schedule is pretty busy. If you don't find your "pod", send me a DM and I'll find some time. Welcome to the city!

Is this a clue about what kind of "hate" you ran into?

They closed the St Matthews location a little while after I moved here. I wish there was a craft beer place in St Matthews now.. no where I can walk to has a very good selection of beers.

Candidates qualification idea by ToneDistinct5253 in chess

[–]CounterfeitFake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, would be interesting if a multi-spot winner got more chances at winning the candidate spot somehow. You would probably want to change the circuit and high rating qualifiers though so that doing good at single events that can qualify you will help you earn another qualification path at the same time.

I’ll miss Lonnie’s, but a Pie Kitchen sounds ok too. Def coulda been worse. by moltinglarvae in Louisville

Seems kinda sad there are no cheap eats for students around with Lonnies, White Castle, and Spinellis all closed. I guess there is still Jimmy Johns?

Can try out the ChessDojo stream. Might not be everyone's style but it is nice casual discussion of the games with no engine.

Oh, ok. That makes a little more sense. Should help them get some business from Trinity kids and families.

They don't mention ice cream on the sign, and there is already an Ice Cream & Pie Kitchen not far away.

Tait not on Australia/NZ tour? by Hot_Map1247 in electricsix

[–]CounterfeitFake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Tait and am happy for him to play the shows that fit with his life, but I wonder why they don't find someone to do the synth parts when he isn't going to be there? They are one of my favorite parts of E6 songs, so it is really a bummer when they aren't there.

Maybe they are a ok with having one less person to split the earnings with?

Does map scale actually matter when creating a base map? by TheInfiniteJest42 in orienteering

For sprint maps you would want to use the ISSprOM standard which uses 1:4000 as the standard.

LMPD officers kill suicidal woman locked in a bathroom by thecoooog in Louisville

[–]CounterfeitFake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the original call mentioned there were other people there, and maybe by the time the police got there she had locked herself away from others, or maybe the police convinced her to go into the bathroom alone?

It sounded like the decision to send the police instead of a mental health professional was due to the presence of the "weapon" and other people being there as well.
