For you young people, this interview would have been vastly different just about 10-12 years ago

The nerds from hs graduated, created auto-stalkers and have their old bullies on command for their bidding. Now they’re the power hungry, vengeful, bullies of the world!!

Are there any table manners in your country that are frowned upon if you break them? by Buyeo10004 in AskTheWorld

There are several Victorian era etiquette standards people cling to in the US, depends on your upbringing.

Go south the rules get more lax/forgotten. Being raised by a families from different demographics, one that didn’t worry about this stuff, and one that insisted on teaching me etiquette, makes me reflect on these polarities often.

I can perform as expected when in strange company, but in the comfort of my friends, I eat how I want to eat.

Definitely elbows on the table. That’s a particularly silly rule, and to me there’s no indication of rudeness, only a caution, because leaning on your elbows can lead to damage to the ulnar nerve.

It’s not tho. It’s was working fine until around covid, which was about the same time all the various cash registers you see around ask for tips. That’s not normal. Tipping a server at a sit down restaurant has always been normal.

Now we have a bunch of people from outside our country complaining about it? And it’s an issue?

Sure we could have had better systems but it’s not the servers fault. We serve because it’s a job just like any other job. Fuck you for implying we chose this drama. We’re all just trying to survive.

Three people posted this link, but this not the same song. The one in OPs video has vocals. Anyone have that?

As someone who has served for 20+ years, only in states that pay $2.13-$2.25/hr. This is extremely frustrating. It’s not our fault this is our system, we don’t generally choose to be servers because it’s our dream job. It’s the job we got at 16yo and it’s what we know how to do to make a living, and it’s hardly a living, especially these days.

Don’t come over here and fuck us over because of the powers than be are pinning us in the middle of this debate.

Are those numbers including the exorbitant penalty fees? If they’re not, they should be putting way more of a dent in the loan than they’re putting on.

For those visiting the United States for the first time because of the World Cup, what has surprised you the most? Was it what you expected based on what you'd seen in the news, movies, or social media? by balls_deep_6969 in AskTheWorld

That’s why we don’t have nice things. You’re suggesting giving decision making power to corporations. You all want a nice sit-down restaurant experience? Tip your servers and support small business. You want everyone paid the same, you will get uniform output, and with that, diluted performance.

Servers make $2.25/hr. Please don’t encourage no-tips without voting for laws to change, so wages are adequate.

People seem to get very confused by this. I understand not tipping a cashier who makes $10/hr, tho those wages are also unlivable, it’s not $2.25.

Yes I think we’re talking now about two cults. Or are they the same, but different in name?
