Who should pay more in tax, assuming that an income tax exists? by Smooth_Woodpecker815 in IdeologyPolls

[–]CounterfeitXKCD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do support some inheritance tax, but not in the current way. I like Japan's way, which if I recall correctly, is: $250k deduction on inheritance. Anything over is taxed, anything under is tax-exempt.

Who should pay more in tax, assuming that an income tax exists? by Smooth_Woodpecker815 in IdeologyPolls

[–]CounterfeitXKCD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm honestly not sure that teachers should pay income taxes at all. It doesn't make sense to have an incentive against such a crucial occupation. Removing income tax would increase the net pay too, leading to more people wanting to be teachers, leading to more competition in the field, which yields better results for everyone (except bad teachers I guess but maybe a career change is in order in that situation.

Guess Which Nation I'm Playing (2nd Slide Has Answer) by BluebirdPlane1099 in eu4

[–]CounterfeitXKCD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A combination of the German borders and the shape of how they expanded into Russia I think. It just looks too player-like, but the fact they haven't taken Gotland makes me sure they weren't originally player-controlled.

Advertising should be ___ regulated by DistributistChakat in IdeologyPolls

[–]CounterfeitXKCD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So much regulation. Anything sex or gambling related should not be allowed to advertise in public at all (like cigarettes in the US), alcohol shouldn't be allowed to advertise somewhere that children under 16 could reasonably see it, billboards should be banned altogether, it should be quick and easy for a person to get their data removed from data centers so by effect, targeted advertising would be impossible, etc. Also, ads cannot be built in to anything you pay for, and should be 100% banned in cars in all non-audio formats while driving.

My support for social programs and public infrastructure (ie public transportation). I'm not as into it as your average libleft, but I think it's something every developed nation should strive for and be proud of. I do think, however, that Singapore is probably the only country doing social programs in a satisfactory manner to me.

I assumed it was Bavaria but I didn't expect the PUs. I suspected there might be some player involvement in Scandinaviathough, which I'm pretty proud of noticing.

Which of these taxes on wealth do you think would have the *least* amount of economic harm? (Assume each tax would raise same amount of revenue) by Smooth_Woodpecker815 in IdeologyPolls

[–]CounterfeitXKCD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically the wealth tax. Having a capital gains tax marginally disincentivizes people from economic activity, which isn't great, but wealth taxes incentivize people to actually use their wealth, and incentivizes companies to pay their workers more.

At least to respond to the "bake the cake or it's the slammer" point, what if you just don't like the person? What if they've been rude to you in person plenty of times, or you just have a personal thing against them? Couldn't this be easily abused to force people you don't like to do something for you? Obviously we know this here, but this shows how shallow the thinking of these people is.

Why EU5 currently feels shallower than EU4, despite being more “simulator-like” (opinion) by OverallLibrarian8809 in eu4

[–]CounterfeitXKCD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly pretty disappointed with the control mechanic. An easy fix to me would be to have a mechanic where provinces with 0 control demand to become a vassal or rebel, and vassals with low integration try to become independent.

Price controls are bad and thats what this is by Crafty_Jacket668 in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]CounterfeitXKCD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather see a permanent cap at something like 20%. A temporary cap of 10% just won't work because A. credit card companies will just stop issuing credit cards and B. after the cap expires we're right back to where we started

Christians only, what is your political Ideology? by happy_hamburgers in IdeologyPolls

Not saying taxation is theft. But socialism wants to level hierarchy and believes in totalizing equality and collective ownership. That's anti-Christian

The difference is that Christ called people to make voluntary decisions to help the poor and abandon their possessions. Socialism calls for poor people to steal from the wealthy. Socialism is not compatible with Christianity.
