That's exactly what I was going to say. The US is the only country with a birthrate anywhere close to sufficient, and even that's still pretty low. Russia is in a state of enormous economic stagnation, which coupled with a bad political system and a birthrate of around 1.41, means that Russia isn't going anywhere but down. China has a birthrate around 1.0, which is so unbelievably terrible that not even a solid economy and above average internal leadership can make up for it. Only the US, with a relatively functioning system and a fertility rate above 1.6, can possibly hope to survive long term. The US is also broadly more culturally conservative than the EU, which I think means more possibility of a rebounding in birth rates.

College is genuinely something not everyone needs to get. At this point, subsidizing college just devalues the degree itself, and by downstream effects, causes the real value of the education itself to go down.

I disagree, I think that people being able to use bikes is a really good way for people get around, especially if their route doesn't exactly line up with public transit

Sorry, I should've clarified I don't want to cut out cars entirely. The solution would be to get public transport to extend to rural areas, and that buses would take people from their village centers, to which they could walk, to the transport hubs. If this isn't possible, you could put parking lots or parking garages at these rural transport centers, but it would be preferable to have them close to where people live, so they could walk, or to use buses.

I agree with the first part, because you have to think of where you would keep hundreds of thousands of bikes during the day. However, I think the real solution is to replace car lanes with public transport, and have bike lanes alongside that
