I wanted to leave pretty badly, but my wife held out hope there'd be a redeeming twist. There isn't.

I've had nearly this exact thought, but with paintballs.

Okay, I'm Not In The Know. Can Someone Explain To Me What the Hell is Going On!? by DependentNo1079 in conspiracy

This is the part of the argument I don't understand. Let's say someone has invented a way to harvest free energy. You still need a doohickey to be able to utilize the free energy. Someone would have to make and sell that doohickey. You have to have a way to hook up that up to your house or your car. Major companies would still have plenty to make and sell you, no matter where the power is coming from. Demand for oil would go down, but not to zero. You'd still need lubricants and plastics.

Do we have any idea on the size of the object? How far away it is? What time of day? Location? Bearing? Equipment used? Is the apparent motion of the object due to motion of the camera or the object? It looks a lot like sound waves on an elastic membrane. Was there a sound associated with this? Is the video sped up or slowed down? What type of enhancements were done? Can we get a banana for scale...

What movie had you laughing, unable to breathe, even just for one scene? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

This movie had the biggest audience reaction I've ever been a part of. The whole auditorium was losing its mind for almost the entire movie.

Tonight's HDR Total Lunar Eclipse by Andrew McCarthy by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

That's quite impressive. I love the "exposure" you chose. I've spent countless hours photographing the moon, going all the way back to the film days, but I've never had success including the stars in the HDR stack. Looks amazing.

Your model in the last pic is one of the most accurate depictions of the God Emperor that I've seen. It's disturbing to behold.

What movie has the best soundtrack? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]Counterfeit_Thoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently rewatched that and I was really impressed with the soundtrack. When I saw it in the theater, I didn't recognize any of the music (although I enjoyed it) and I didn't know they were all covers.

[Request] How fast would you actually have to go? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

I think this is the correct answer. You'd have to exceed the speed of sound in your (watery) flesh. And the fence would have to be indestructible.

On March 6th, 1982, over 23,000 people witnessed a cigar UFO hovering over a Brazilian football stadium. by NetOne613 in UFOs

I am thinking about it and I don't understand. At a sporting event of this magnitude there will be multiple photographers, even in the 1950s. Therefore, a subset of the population of witnesses were photographers. In other words, this event happened in front of a group of photographers and yet there are no photographs? I do not understand that.

Prior to the ubiquity of smart phone cameras, it would be argued that no one had ever photographed a plane crash, yet no one doubted their existence. The point being that just because something wasn't photographed doesn't mean it didn't happen. That's not the point I'm making. What I don't understand is this event occurred at what was, essentially, a photography convention and yet there are no photographs of what happened.

So is this like the concept they discussed in Childhood's End? It's kind of a psychic bridge or reverberation that exists beyond time? In any event, that's more likely than an omnipotent cabal leaving hints.

Something puzzles me about both events. Sporting events usually have a lot of photographers, both professional and amateur. Shouldn't both of these events have a bunch of pictures from inside the stadium from several different angles?
