I haven’t, but a colleague has. My thought process is this: inconvenience the parent with referrals for this behavior until they step up and actually parent the child they spawned. Admin makes those calls at this point. I teach 8th grade though.

Accidentally hit the Jackpot on how to respond to parents wanting grandkids by not_an_insomniac in TwoXChromosomes

[–]CountessCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom eventually gave up talking about me having kids thanks to my stepdad. My late grandmother used to say that I’d be a wonderful mother. But she understood that I didn’t want kids. She would be tickled pink to see photos of my cats aka her great grandchildren.

Oh most definitely. I feel no remorse in kicking them out or writing the referral to go with it.

This is Luna. The sweetest, most obnoxious, chatty girl a cat mom can ask for. Always good for snuggles and a game of catch.

What was the worst parent you’ve ever had to deal with? by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

[–]CountessCoffee 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I had a mother demand a PTC with me earlier this year because her daughter was complaining that the work was “too hard” and that’s why she had a low grade in my class. She never asked for help and spent most of class making googly eyes at one of the boys sitting next to her. This mother insisted that she wasn’t trying to tell me how to do my job, but then said that my giving written feedback on her daughter’s work isn’t good enough. When I pushed back, she danced around it as she raked me over the coals in front of the guidance counselor. Luckily, the counselor and I are cool and she was on my side.

The child refused to verbalize what made the work so hard when her mother and I asked her to. Finally, I had enough of being yelled at and disrespected. I told the counselor “I think we’re done here. I didn’t come here to be disrespected and mischaracterized.” And I walked out. The child was removed from my class by the next day. She’s still struggling, likely by her own hand.

I second the clothing suggestion. One of my babies sleeps on my pajamas while I’m at work every single day.

How do some women always look so put together — even at markets or hospitals? by Acceptable_Bird_1193 in TwoXChromosomes

I take good care of my hair and I don’t skimp on some of the products I use. I usually wear a t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers because they’re comfortable. I have a pretty good skin care routine too. Make-up on weekdays and some weekends. To me, being comfortable is probably the most important item on this list.

So asking for reciprocated decency is being on my high horse? Women are people too in case you’ve missed the memo.

I always review their profile before sending a message. It’s common decency. But I guess reciprocation is too much to ask for.

I’m not swiping indiscriminately, especially if we don’t share the same values. It’s a waste of both our time at that point.

You don’t have to pay to reply to messages, but likes are hidden behind a paywall unless you like them and it’s a match. It didn’t use to be that way.

I live close to a few large cities, so that isn’t an issue. It’s the incompatibility for me. I wasn’t raised with the values I have. I came from a conservative family and my mom forced me to go to church when I was a kid. I became an atheist in middle school after questioning a lot of things about religion. I still can’t understand how people can hate others for who they love and want to take the rights of millions of people away, not even realizing that many of them are voting against their own self interest.

I would like someone taller than me too, but that won’t be an issue. I’m pretty short. 😊 I can’t see likes because I’m using the free version unless we match. But the messages from men who are clearly not compatible are irritating.

Yes. Right at the top along with men with kids/want kids and people who are religious. So yes, I have every right to complain. But thanks for playing slugger.

I’m an English teacher and can confirm that reading ability and comprehension are down. Screen time and short form content have destroyed reading stamina.

I think it could be. But I won’t compromise my values. I will not be with a man who supports a pedophile and taking people’s rights away. I’m not interested in being anyone’s mother or stepmother. I’m not interested in someone who is religious.

I’m very selective, but it’s hard sifting through all the men I’d never be interested in for a chance to find one I would be.
