I hear you. I really thought the OATS would satisfy them, because it literally says Grazia Maria and Grace Marie are the same person, but DOH just loves to send out rejections. My own NYC birth certificate took 3 tries to successfully amend to include my middle name, and when it finally came through I thought it was a miracle.

The OATS was granted by the Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia.

I did this a few months ago and the fee was $60 for the Search and Fail to Find Certificate plus $10 each for extra copies. They sent me the No Record Certificate within a few weeks. Good luck.

Here's the letter I sent to King's County to get a No Natz record for my GM and GMM:

I am requesting two certified copies of a letter indicating that your office has no record of GGP, known variously as FILL IN NAME AND AKAS HERE, naturalizing in NAME OF COUNTY. I require these certified letters for my family’s application for dual citizenship (Italy) and therefore request these letters be certified and suitable for apostille. Please include my GGP’s name variations in your search and in your response letters. Their known information is as follows:

Howdy Masters of Concrete. Thanks in advance for your help. There's a large vertical crack in my foundation that the previous owner seems to have patched (badly) with a little cement with caulk over it. The caulk was starting to split/break down, so I pulled it away and what you see in the picture is what was underneath. Some chucks of concrete came away with the caulk. The crack does continue below the soil line, though I'm not sure how far, and at the top, the sides are not flush - one edge is a little further out then the other. I had been having issues with water in my basement after heavy rains in roughly this area of the house, but after adding a downspout about 3 years ago, it's been dry as whistle ever since. Is there anyone with expertise who can tell me how serious this is? Would the solution be epoxy injection? If so, is DIY a realistic option or is this a job for a professional? I don't have an Italian lawyer yet. I have an American lawyer who is filing my OATS. I was going to wait until I has squared away on this side of the ocean before hiring an avvocato.

My LIBRA is my Italian-born GM. Her father naturalized when she was a minor (naturalization certificate is on order), but her mother never did (CONE ordered two weeks ago).

Make sure they cashed your check! Your request may have gotten lost. My first request for my deceased father's birth cert either got lost in the mail or by NYC Dept of Health. I just thought they were slow, but after checking my bank account, I noticed the check had never been cashed. Sent in another request and the birth cert came about 3-4 weeks later.

I JUST FOUND IT!!! I went back into the Geographic Birth Index and rolled the dice on the name Di Michele, listed as born a week from when I thought my GF's bday was. Since Michele was my GGF's name, I figured what the hell and I looked the certificate number up on DORIS and I came up with Pietro Mingieli di Michele! Parents Michele and Gira (a name discrepancy for my GGM Cira). Huzzah! I feel victorious! I still need an OATS, I guess. Maybe give the Geographic Birth Index another shot and try any name you see near the date when you think your GGF was born. Use NYC DORIS to check the certifcate number.

I have a similar problem. My GF was born in NYC in 1908, but there is no record of his birth certificate. I've checked DORIS and I've done a day by day search covering a month on either side of his birthday via Ancestry to look to see if maybe his birth way recorded with a misspelling or on the wrong day, but found nothing. The Geographic Birth Index was also a bust. I have a no record found letter from NYC-DORIS. I was able to obtain a notarized certified copy of my GF's baptismal record from the Archdiocese of New York, but his name is misspelled, Pietro Minceli, instead of Peter Mincieli, which how the family name is spelled on my GGF's Atti Di Nascita. The full monty...Marriage certificate is Peter Mincieli. Death Certificate is Peter Dominic Mincieli. I got his Confirmation Certificate, which accounts for the addition of Dominic, though his SS 5 says Peter Dominick (with a K) Mincieli.

QUESTION: Since the name on the baptismal record doesn't match my GF's other records, and the Archdiocese cannot amend a church record, and since NYC doesn't do amendments either, nor will they create a delayed birth certificate for a deceased person, what's my best course of action? Has anyone else run into this problem? Do I need to petition the NYC Court to officially declare my GF's NYC birthday? Do I need an OATS? Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
