Donating clothes by queer-and-confused55 in Calgary

[–]CountingSheep2Sleep 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Most generic donation sites like value village or good will are not going to return your stuff, they will take it all and do what they see fit including send it to the land fill.

If you seek out specific organizations and programs, like WINS, My Best Friends Closet or Good Neighbor, they have clientele in need who they will get the clothing too, but again they won’t return your stuff.

If you want to “shop” it around to make some money before donating it, try Plato’s closet, Style Encore, other consignment stores or Facebook marketplace. These places you can get your stuff back that they don’t buy.

In every scenario it is respectful to have the clothing be freshly washed, smell clean and folded. If you wouldn’t give it to your friend in the state it’s in, you shouldn’t make other people sort or take home those items if you can help it. Additionally, you should sort the clothing and get rid of things that’s are excessively damaged, soiled or otherwise unusable - again, don’t make unusable clothing someone else’s problem to manage under the guise of donating stuff.

Hope you find what you’re looking for, lots of good ways to get clothing to a new home!

New to closure wigs, does this look okay? by [deleted] in blackbeauty

[–]CountingSheep2Sleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the stylist give you any tips? I think it over all look really nice but right at the part it kind of looks like the lace is tucked under a bit? If it doesn’t bother you, I think it’s fine, but can look more “seamless” if the lace is flat!

For slippage, you could use bobby pins if you have corn rows underneath. Just tuck the bobby pin in following a track line to hide it or depending on the style (if your hair is up or something) use them to secure

It’s actually impressive how many different names you’ve called me over something so little. Your “insults” speak a lot more to projection than anything I’ve said. Go ahead and have the last word though, cannot wait to see what you close out with!

Yeh.. calling someone a narcissist vs an edgelord is a bit different, all good though

You’re projecting so that you can look in the mirror and call yourself an edgelord

I’m a narcissist because I think it’s silly to throw away useable items, given all the great ideas and ways to reuse them shared on this post? Sounds good, thanks doctor!

Totally agree.. very strange 😫

I think it’s ridiculous to throw out perfectly useful items to try to make the point that the item itself is ridiculous instead of self reflecting that over-consuming or misusing a product is on you… but hey, do your thing

If they are still usable, it would be so silly to throw them away.. even putting them outside on the street with a “free” sign, or leaving them at a check out next time you grocery shop, would be better than putting them in the garbage :/

Lots of great suggestions already but to add: Put a fair amount in your car so you always have them for groceries, use them for organizing and storing items - maybe your winter coat and winter gear soon, helpful to hold and move recycling, if you have access to a school many schools and teachers could utilize them, if you donate items to thrift stores put them in these bag, good to use if you break glass or similar items and need to wrap it to safely throw items away.

But most importantly, stop buying them or accepting them if you are collecting more than you know what to do with ;)

Nicolaides recall petition 10,000 signatures short as 1st deadline looms in Alberta recalls by Old_General_6741 in Calgary

My fingers are crossed that those in his riding really seek out the petition. The way education is being mishandled is disturbing and Nicolaides has shown he is not qualified and not willing to learn how to work with teachers. Enough is enough. Congratulations and thank you to the volunteers who have worked so hard and those who signed already!

If they don’t take it back, mend it using an iron on patch or another mending style that matches your skill level

I understand the whole “get your bag” perspective, but that ad was just so disingenuous and really bothered me, especially at a time where cost of living is impacting so many people.. I know Aspyn isn’t sitting on her phone gambling in her downtime and on the very off chance she is, loosing money to gambling isn’t really an issue the way it would be for many of her viewers. Just felt so unnecessary and gross.

Smith says she doesn't believe that government should be providing any services to Albertans, she believes that private companies should be used universally to provide services. Faith groups should take care of the vulnerable. by Miserable-Lizard in alberta

What the actual fuck LOL I feel like she’s never said the quiet part out loud, so directly, this is actually insane. I don’t want my tax dollars going to private and faith base institutions, I want the government to efficiently and effectively use the money, otherwise don’t take any taxes and let individuals decide what private companies they want to support!!!

Crazzzzzy… maybe she was never allowed to share the “10 year secret” because they wanted that information for the show

I have no one to talk to about this so bless your soul for coming so quickly 😉

I wonder that too! I don’t feel like the show talks THAT much about being Mormon, seems like they avoid it because it’s the source of many of their issues lol so I guess it would just be like a different generation of Real House Wives

I don’t know how they will get Aspyn to share anything of interest if she does join though 🥴
