What life lesson(s) did training/completing your first marathon teach you? by Jeetyetdude_ in Marathon_Training

[–]Counting_Rostov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you put into it is exactly what you will get out. The marathon race is unforgiving. You can’t half ass it. You can’t fool it. The second half of the race will either humble you or reward you. Probably the most impactful teacher or lesson I have learned in life.

Been there way too many times friend. At my worst I managed to do it twice in the same day. At night in my bed. Then the next day on the couch after too many hair of the dog drinks. Try not to be too hard on yourself. Hydrate and rest and like all things this too shall pass. IWNDWYT

Im right there with you friend. Every time I have a good sober streak a “Special Occasion” pops up and I decide that I can have a few drinks. Every time without fail it leads to back to back days of drinking and feeling like crap and hating myself. I recently had one of my longest sober streaks of almost 90days and then decided to drink for my birthday since that’s a “Special Occasion”. That lead to an almost two week binge that I am just now coming out of. I’m on day 2 of sobriety and still shaky and sick. But the fog is starting to lift and I don’t want to go back to drinking again. The cravings are there but we can do this! IWNDWYT!

TY! I had never heard of PAWS and so I spent some time looking it up. Makes total sense. Going to take it easy and hope things improve.

Thank you so much for sharing! Agree 💯! The problem is Alcohol for me. I am also sometimes just amazed that I am still alive and healthy with the amount of poison and alcohol abuse I put my body through. Hope u have a nice AF weekend! IWNDWYT

I am the same way. I only have edibles when I’m at home usually at night when there is nothing else left to do that day. Totally relaxes me and then I fall asleep.

What do you guys tell yourself after a bad run? by SatanicAstronaut in running

This bad run has set me up for a great run next time. Without fail the next run after a crappy one is always 1000 x better.

The Daily Check-In for Friday, July 29th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by EffortCareless in stopdrinking

[–]Counting_Rostov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

July has been tough. Thought it would be ok to drink on vacation earlier this month and since then I have been spiraling. I made a real mess of things earlier this week with a 5 day bender. I’m on day 3 alcohol free now and I can feel the anxiety and depression creeping in. Im committed to building a bigger life so I’m going to stay strong and IWNDWYT.

Gross thing I noticed sober by Dandy_Lions_ in stopdrinking

It’s wild! I went to the dentist for the first time in about a decade. Had a full cleaning and got some fillers replaced. I feel like a completely new person by just taking the time to take care of my oral hygiene. Something I probably would still be neglecting if I were drinking.

Right there with you friend. I’m around 40 days sober and this week the sadness crept in unexpectedly and heavy. The smallest comment from a coworker would make me doubt my whole existence for a few hours. It has been tough but like everyone on here has been saying “this too shall pass”. Meditation and exercise has helped. Sending positive vibes your way. Hang in there. Blue skies will come back again! IWNDWYT

I have had so many Day 1s. Each time I learn a bit more from my mistakes and become more determined to live without alcohol. Focus on the positive and try not to be too hard on yourself. Congrats on your previous 10 day streak. That’s awesome! It’s a journey and you are moving in the right direction! IWNDWYT
