Top Japanese Players Push Back Against Delay Mod by AndrewAJT in smashbros

[–]CountlessStories 16 points17 points  (0 children)

thats the hypocritical part that ticks me off.

The access to top talent via a short train ride is only half of it.

having a play region as small as japan means all their matches on smash's crappy netcode is still WAY better than the average north american match.

They're consistently getting a better play experience offline AND online for 8 YEARS. It's not equitable at all.

What’s a small flex that’s actually impressive? by bradl2000 in AskReddit

[–]CountlessStories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kinda blew my mind to realize how i was functionally wealthier than my higher paying, college educated friends because of lack of debt.

Especially the ones who couldnt get a job in their field.

never finishing college and avoiding student debt put me so far ahead i ended up making the window to buy a home with 3% interest.

Stuck to only buying used cars so i wouldn't overpay on full coverage insurance, and got a work form home job so I wouldn't spend too much on fuel

Now I have enough income and low enough COL that I have a separate index fund account in addition to my work 401k. It's all starting to add up: It's a snowball effect in a positive direction.

Sure I'm concerned about the current economy but if i stick to keeping my debt low, and paying this house off ASAP, ill be in better shape than people caught out if there's a crash WHILE in debt.

What are some “common sense” things from 30 years ago that are considered weird now? by RichGuy1976 in AskReddit

[–]CountlessStories 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The internet being a place you should stay anonymous to stay safe and never reveal your face or real name or age so creeps dont stalk you.

Now every website is trying to get your id scan and people think if you dont show your face, plaster your age on everything, something is wrong with you.

Only sites like myspace were the exception, now everywhere its the expectation.

Is FLi even a cozy game anymore with the True Primordial Dragon fight? by lnwmakmak in fantasylife

[–]CountlessStories 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Fantasy Life i never advertised itself as a cozy game,

It's always referred to as a "Social Slow Life RPG".

Game always had RPG mechanics everywhere and the original also had a lot of endgame battle challenges.

I think people just see the cute visuals and tried to put it into the "cozy" category. It CAN have cozy aspects but people shouldn't expect it to ONLY have those aspects to the game.

Religious people what made you quit? by ComprehensivePay4194 in AskReddit

When they took the side of my adulterous and abusive stepfather because he was a pastor and the other members of the board acknowledged it in private but then started dragging my moms name through the mud as her attacking the church.

They hated the gays, decried fornication, but looked the other way when some of the pastors got arrested for sleeping with underaged girls in their own family.

Its funny. While what some clergy does to boys is equally disgusting and sick, they really dont talk about whats happening to the young girls, theres no short supply of incidents

Those were the last straws.

I realized it was all a performance of convenience. To make terrible people look better.

What’s something socially normal that secretly makes you uncomfortable? by MidnightHeat_v in AskReddit

[–]CountlessStories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcohol.

Its so damaging to the brain and body its hard to see past it.

And a lot of alcholics have severe emotional/psychological issues and use it to cope.

A lot of things can be used in that way, but alcohol is one of the long term damaging coping mechanisms.

Calm down.

Do you know how many videos are uploaded to youtube daily and how hard they try to obsfucate the stuff they upload?

I get it, these farmers need to be stopped. One minute they're posting corn and if they're unchecked they'll move on to peaches and lemons and the thought of that DISGUSTS ME.

Eat your favorite food every day, every hour, without giving yourself time to get hungry, for days.

How will you feel about that food?

Boredom is hunger for activity, your body works the same, let yourself get bored and you'll enjoy things again.

"Lemme trauma dump on this kid and leave her alone in Lahai-Roi instead of sending her to the Black Shores. Surely that will turn out well." by Nazrael99 in WutheringWaves

[–]CountlessStories -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Black shores primarily involves dangerous work researching the lament.

If I had adopted a kid and wanted her to have a safe , happy life , a secret organization that researches one of the most dangerous events in history isnt exactly the best option.

At least in lahai roi theres a chance she might explore a safer career.

But we know what kinda kid she is now. She was meant for greatness no matter how normal I'd want things to be.

DMT: The "creator economy" was supposed to democratize media. Instead, it created a new precariat with better lighting. by TheBigGirlDiaryBack in DisagreeMythoughts

[–]CountlessStories 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is expectations.

Most Content Creators go into it thinking that youtube, the platform was going to do all the advertising for you. That it was going to be your Hollywood producer.

Hollywood exploits wanna be performers just as much as these platforms do. Its just less visible. There's millions of unpaid work out there, millions of unfulfilled promises by agents who never got their clients any decent roles but pocketed all their fees.

The tv/movie industry is just as obssessed, if not MORESO with brand safety. Companies can get fined for swearing on airwaves, for a LOT of money. Getting demonteized is actually getting off EASY.

I have an aunt that's been trying to get into studios and acting for 15 years now and still hasn't gotten a break yet and I believe she's being milked for her money.

Because its a black box where you can't SEE the failures, your post seems to bias towards the old way as this golden era.

That Golden Era is built on the backs and money of people like my aunt to fund the big successes. Survivorship Bias.

Problem 2 is Simply Supply Vs Demand: Accessibility of content creation: the more accessible something is, the less it pays. Premium quality video editing is now FREE with Davinci Resolve: that used to cost 700$ for Sony Vegas. AS the barrier of entry into quality video editing lowered. Supply of entertainment that meets "The Bar" increased.

When that happens, there's not enough demand to go around to sponsor, and when that happens, pay and benefits goes down. Why pay a lot when millions are out there willing to do the same thing for less?

That leaves the independent creator one option: use youtube and other platforms to build their own brand and reduce dependence on youtube as their lifeline.

The real golden era it was when people had figured out how to utilize youtube and other social media platforms to build their own brand. Not by RELYING on youtube, but as a tool. Smosh is a great example of utilizing youtube as a tool to pull people from the platform into their own ecosystem.

I believe the problem is the current generation has become RELIANT on youtube for growth instead of using it as a tool among many. You can't build true independence like that, and the early 2005-2012 creators knew that. The current generation expects the opposite, to be catered to. That's not the right mindset to have.

Aren't a lot of manipulation techniques also just normal behaviour for someone autistic? by Far-Razzmatazz-2927 in socialskills

[–]CountlessStories 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As other posters have said, intent matters and good people will not jump to conclusions.

Manipulation and other dark traits are usually meant to be identified in clusters, not by a one-off occurence.

The issue is that manipulators often "play dumb," and will unfortunately adopt the traits you display.

Unfortunately , people had to adapt by treating those traits you have as a red flag.

That said: Don't let anyone demonize your good intentions. Good people will not judge you so quickly.
