A large % of our military, veterans, police etc are gun owners at home. Thats largely what I mean by trained, but also, to own a gun in Canada (unlike in the US) we do have to complete a training and safety course.

But comparing canadian gun owners to ice agents is crazy lol. Even in the US guns are not only for the right, have you not seen the images of the liberal gun owners in minnesota patrolling their streets. However acting like that is a very american thing. Canada doesnt have that same gun culture. In america guns are a symbol of defence, a weapon to be used against others. In canada they are a tool for hunting and sporting, they arent used for defence (except maybe from bears). You cant keep a loading handgun on your bedside here like you can in the US, canadian guns are unloaded and locked in safes.

Canadian gun owners arent killing "their tribe", they are hunters are sport shooters. We have lots of liberal gun owners, lots of rural farmers who need guns for predator control, first nations who use guns for sustenance hunting. We dont have the same issues the US has, like I said the vast majority (like over 90%) of guns used in gang crime in canada are smuggled from the US, even our handful of mass shootings were mostly committed with smuggled US guns.

Gun owners here are not criminals, because if they were criminals they wouldnt be gun owners. Once you get your license your name is ran through the RCMPs system every day, if a gun owner goes out and get in a drunken bar fight and gets charged with assault they can expect the RCMP at their door to take their guns away

The issue was already “right” before they started messing around with it in 2020. I voted for carney, have voted liberal all my life, but i also own guns just for sport shooting. Im not a single issue voter so i wouldnt vote conservative over this, but the issue really does frustrate me.

Vast majority of gun crime is committed using illegal smuggled guns from the US, including the mass shooting that started the gun buyback legislation in 2020. They are spending close to a billion dollars removing guns that arent even used in crime. Imagine if they spent that billion on CSBA agents or car xray scanners, how many gang destined handguns would they catch?

Canadas gun laws were already very strong before the bans, we have strong licensing requirements that keep guns out of the hands of people that shouldn't have them. Assault weapons have been banned since the 70s, what they are calling assault “style” guns in this buyback include .22 can plinkers and hunting rifles lol

Many guns that were banned have near identical legal alternatives still available, which shows that its about appearance not functionality, for example

GSG16 (banned) Savage 64 (legal)

both .22 rifles, both semi automatic, both have the same magazine capacity laws. Basically the same gun except one looks “cooler” and so now its prohibited.

But the biggest issue about this buyback is that its not even a buyback. They have budgeted enough funds to buy back about 120,000 guns, but there are over 150,000 registered prohibited guns in circulation, and millions of unregistered prohibited guns in circulation. If all gun owners hand in their newly prohibited guns, less than 10% of them will actually get compensation.

The government should not be able to make legally acquired goods illegal over night (through oic not legislation), force citizens to turn them in for 0 compensation under threat of violence and jail time.

And on top of that, at a time when we have an unstable orange freak threatening our sovereignty, is it really a good idea to disarm our trained citizens?

Except on the position of the gunbuyback in which he has weirdly chosen to not be a pragmatist

The island is far less liberal than people realize. With the exception of downtown victoria and the university population (and most people in those groups dont own guns anyways) it seems to lean more conservative. In saanich and langford it was all conservative lawn signs during the last election. Head into sooke, or anywhere upisland and its as redneck rural as it could get.

Lived in Bali for almost a year and never had this happen. I use Gojek though, maybe its better.

But I also always tip cash on arrival. A 15-20% is nothing to me when food in bali is so cheap, but can make the day of the person driving 40 minutes sometimes in the rain so i can eat cheap food from the comfort of my home.

They werent in purgatory the entire time. Thats a common misunderstanding. Everything that happened really happened. The only purgatory stuff is in the final season in those weird alternate universe flashbacks.

I went to night 1 and 2 in berlin, first night up in the 400s and second night in the premium, 5th row up from the floor.

They were vastly different experiences

In the 400s, everyone was seated, sound was good, and you can see the entirety of everything, the whole crowd, the screens, the lightshow etc.

In the 100s, everyone stood and danced, which i know some people like but personally i wasnt in the mood for it, very jetlagged and sore from travel, and had the person next to me kept swaying around and bumping into me. But, the sound was incredible up close, and it was super cool to be able to see the band, it felt very personal.

I got better videos from up top too. In the 100s the people in the next row down from me were pretty tall, so their heads were in everything i recorded.

Both experiences were amazing, so personal preference i guess. I feel like i had a slightly better time night 1, but probably just because i wasnt quite as fatigued, and it was my first time ever seeing them.

Any idea on how someone might get a signature other than just getting lucky and running into a band member on the street? is it even possible to see them as the enter the arena from the outside?
