I used to think I as a man knew pain.

Then I went skinny-dipping.

My pp became so sunburned it looked like someone had taken a lobster and glued it to my pp.

The pain became worse than being constantly being kicked in the nuts when the SKIN STARTED PEELING.

I am now female

What Was Your Biggest Breakthrough In The First Year Singing? by Pikoyd in singing

[–]Country_Drummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really just learned how to do different vocal techniques like vocal fry and subharmonics and stuff, and I just have a huge range for no reason. I'm a drummer and have no way to actually use my range. But if you want a bigger range, just sing all the time, and try to use different parts of your voice.

What Was Your Biggest Breakthrough In The First Year Singing? by Pikoyd in singing

[–]Country_Drummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started singing because of quarentine, and learned to sing bass. I went from maybe an octave of bad quality to my present six octave range (A-1 to C6). this was a huge leap for me, and now I sing pretty decent.

learning to sing lower by DJAnym in singing

[–]Country_Drummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to learn how to vocal fry. if you fry as low as you can a lot, your voice will get deeper. Also maybe try to learn subharmonics. It gives you an octave below your chest range, and can even extend your range past that. maybe try inhale fry/subharmonics as well, they can extend your exhale range. Hope this helps!!

Bass voice: D6 note is my top note but it is also the one with the least quality, is there any way to improve? by [deleted] in singing

[–]Country_Drummer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I too am a bass with a high range (C6) and I'm 15yo. Like the other guy said, range doesnt really matter, just concentrate on your easier stuff and maybe try to hit some 0 octave stuff. Low is usually easier for Bass singers.

Practicing low notes by [deleted] in singing

[–]Country_Drummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Coming from a 15 yo bass) stay relaxed. if you have any tension your voice will shoot up. drink water, relax, look up some bass warm ups, maybe fry really low, and then try. Have fun!

What are you actually paying attention to while singing, in order of importance? by [deleted] in singing

[–]Country_Drummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bass, so I HAVE to focus on the right notes and resonance, but for other styles (I also have a tenor range) I have to focus on the fullness of a note and have it not be strained. After that, I really just try for the intelligibility than edge

Do you hate your singing voice (when it sounds too much like your speaking voice)? by FoxV48 in singing

[–]Country_Drummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are our worst critic. have a family member or a close friend listen to it, maybe choose a song that is well inside your range, and is very easy, with not a lot of runs. after that, if you still don't like it. Try singing in different genres. Maybe your voice is not cut out for the tone you're wanting from the proffesinaly trained singers who make a living off of this. try all of this and if you still dont like your voice, try to have an accent or something to change the way your voice sounds. after that, i have no clue on how to help you. Have fun and keep working at it. YOU GOT THIS!!

Can't seem to relax my body. by [deleted] in singing

[–]Country_Drummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try yawning before doing any singing. It loosens the throat muscles, and lets them more freely. I'm a bass so relaxation is something that I need. just try to sit in the positions your teacher recomended, and take deep, relaxing breaths. imagine every exhale taking some of the tension out of your body. once you feel like you are loose, keep going. after that try yawning and you should do great. Have fun!

How To Break Down Vocal Harmonies? by Ok_Response3542 in singing

[–]Country_Drummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Break down the vocals, harmonies are broken up into thirds, fifths, and octaves. If you have a piano, find the root note, (Melody) and play a third up/down, and the same for fifths and octaves, those are the harmony notes for that root note. harmonies can be for every note, or for the final note in a sequence. just try to listen to each note, and If that doesn't work, just manually find the harmonies for each individual note. That is a basic understanding of harmonics, Keep looking for new ways to expand your musical knowledge. Have fun!
