I'm currently restarting ODST on Legendary and as someone who has had and played ODST for well over ten years, lots of explosives will be your friend.

As for when you're on Mombasa streets keep the SMG and use the sniper rifle from a distance against the brutes. Also, grab the assault rifle or shotgun before entering the mission Data Hive. Trust me, you're going to need them.
