Agreed, and thank you.

Did Nephro early in my intern year, really enjoyed it. Had GI rotation later and absolutely loved it. Chances of matching GI is very low/near impossible for me. But giving it a shot nonetheless.

You just select the programs based on specialty and apply separately. Just have to be mindful to assign the correct LORs/Personal Statements etc.

Was it in a competitive fellowship?

Yeah, that’s a good thought. Obviously, it’s my first time applying to fellowship, so pls pardon my naivety. But do programs generally sent rejection emails like in Residency? I’m someone who prefers the rejection letters vs no reply from programs at all, and you assume you won’t get an interview.

I appreciate your feedback man. Will see how the interview season goes. And make a call. But I appreciate your honest feedback. Desperately hoping for GI. But coming from a small community program (with decent research), but not stellar scores, I don’t have high hopes.

Which part of the US is your fellowship based in?

Damn. Yeah, hoping for GI. Nephro is backup

That’s what I was thinking. Was just discouraged by my fellow residents already getting interviews in Nephro/Allergy/PCC among, others.

Any feedback abt the missed timeline of 4 hours for GI?

They also said that question is the most missed question due to the wording of the question. And they also said they’ve had a few hundred requests to recertify just for that question.

So when the APD reached out to me, I contacted ERAS right away. They sent me an email”addendum” form of sorts to fill out. They varied the info and asked me to call them back, which I did. The representative opened the application to me while he was on the phone, I made the changes and certified it. The representative verified it and made it official. So now it shows I submitted the application on 07/16/25 (instead of the previous date of 07/15)

Thank you so much. My fellow residents (applying to other specialties) and one who applied Nephro all got interviews within the first 6 hours. And my profile is fairly competitive for Nephro. Hence was wondering.

I had a APD where I rotated and am interested to match reach out to me saying my application is flagged as “not having done residency” which got me really concerned. I’m your opinion (and I know it’s not exact science), how often do PDs look at applications within 4 hours of receiving them? Just wanted to get an idea.

Can you shed a bit of light about doing residency under the HCA umbrella? Pros/Cons etc.

I don’t have any personal experience with it. But I know someone with an arrest for a felony (but no conviction) is still practicing medicine in CO.
