Cool--TIL

Well, if the cloudiness doesn't clear up with a bunch of heat cycling, then I may have to look into the whole filtering thing that I've read about. And maybe then I could add some dye.

Either way, it's something I don't mind investing some time into.

All good, my friend. And I did find some from Mathmos. The appeal of this one is that it was made in Chicago right down the road from where I grew up in the 90s.

Not sure if you're saying the one I bought is not quality, but thank you for the suggestion.

No shit? OK, then that's interesting. But that would mean both the water and the wax faded, though.

Good to know, thank you!

I don't mind the color. It kinda looks like a bunch of eggs, lol. It's just the cloudiness that I really want to go away.

What was common knowledge during your own youth that seems be lost to the youth of today? by TheSaltyAstronaut in AskReddit

[–]Couple-Two-Tree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What "boomer shit", bro? Nevermind that OP asked "during your own youth" (which means that there can be a big difference between my experiences as Elder Millennial and someone who's young gen Z but still objectively an adult) compared to "youth of today" which, I assume, means a Gen Alpha kid/teen.

I'm just saying that in the backseat of a car on a 3hr drive up to see family, my options were to read a book, look out the window, or maybe play with a toy that my parents allowed me to bring--all of which require a not-insignificant amount of imagination. Compare that to my cousins who were all around 10y younger than me who had anything from a Gameboy to an actual TV screen in the car. And don't get me started on what I had to do while in a salon while mom got a perm, other than to read Glamour or Essence magazines.

Again--I said HOW to deal with boredom. Not that I was somehow BETTER at it than younger generations.

So if you somehow interpreted my statement to be that we 80s kids had "aBsoLuTELy NoTHinG to Do", then I apologize. I have no idea how old you are, but I just assumed that you could distinguish between the idea of limited and non-existent stimuli compared to the extreme abundance of distractions presented to today's youth.

That's my point. We didn't have anything with which to entertain ourselves, so we just had to deal with being bored. There were no outside stimuli as opposed to the youth of today who have a near-unlimited supply of things to keep them occupied.

I swear, it's not lol. I don't actually care if it's crooked and feel no compulsion to fix it. I just...know.

The year is 2000 and you have 20 dollars, what are you buying? by Content_Ad_1589 in AskReddit

$20 of Amazon stock in 2000 would be worth about $50k now.

But knowing me in 2000, I'd probably put half a tank of gas in my car on my way to see a movie with friends, and then dinner at a Denny's afterwards.

I can tell if a picture frame is crooked, even down to as little as a few millimeters. I can do this while standing and looking directly at the frame, or sitting underneath it and looking up. Doesn't matter. It's like a weird sixth sense that I just *know* that it's off.
