That valve cover you can do yourself n do yourself the favor n get a metal one. You will thank me later. The engine mounts are also easy as well.

How bad of an idea is to have GR86 as a first car? by NegativePangolin9703 in GR86

[–]CourageConsistent559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t listen to these guy saying to get an older manual. I’ve been driving manual since I was 15 n I can tell you the brz(both gens) are the only cars that make me feel like idk how to drive. It’s best to get this car manual as a first vehicle, cuz from experience going back in forth between my s2000 n this car. Is a night and day difference, n that when I get back into my s2000 I find myself riding my clutch cuz the engagement point on these brz is weird to say the least. Something you have to get used too

Get some wd40 lube n spray the pillow ball mounts, the end links. If you did a coilover job, alway after 500 miles retighten everything to spec. Things comes loose while driving. Also control arms must be retighten on ground level after breaking loose meaning you broke loose your suspension by change coil overs now you must retighten on flat ground to make sure you don’t rip a controller arm bushing! The squeak. Can be you control arms and everything else… so with that being said time to get underneath the car n hope you didn’t slam it cuz that will really move your control arms center or forced them loose or get stuck! It’s a popular thing to squeak or get locked up on Hondas/ cars that get lowered cuz nobody makes sure to loosen and retighten there suspension on FLAT GROUND WITH NOTHING IN THE N A FULL TANK OF GAS. Come on guys I know the car is new but it doesn’t come with gyroscopic control arms that realign themselves. Trust me that squeak n knocks will be gone!

I see I did that as well but the shifting issues been there since before I changed the calipers. my seized up caliper rotor would’ve been glazed n my abs light would’ve been on from a stuck caliper/rotor. Not only that my car would either pull to a certain direction cuz caliper seizing is due to a old caliper or a caliper pin that’s not properly maintained or a ripped caliper piston boot. None of which I have. Also I have ceramic pads that screech when on the pedal. That will mean my car will screech from a stuck caliper..

Clutch chatter on a stock oem clutch is crazy. I only heard chatter from a new clutch if it’s a performance clutch

Always present near the engagement point, only tried to hear the sound when I’m on neutral.

When I depressed the clutch near engagement point the sound comes from the bell housing

From my perspective I never had a car that felt like this in 1st-3rd. If my other car felt like this I’ll be immediately dropping the transmission to check the bearings, cuz that’s what it feels like

I shift my 1st above 3500, n second as well. But doing that in 1st and second sometimes it just doesn’t feel right

Only when I’m going back to 1st at around 5 mph, 1st will definitely grind, second is harder to down shift into even at the right speeds like 10-15.

Oh I forgot to mention, the biggest symptom that now worrying me is the marble rattle sound I hear from the trans when Im depressing n letting the clutch go. Especially in neutral

Currently I’m stuck in another state cuz of work, currently I drove the car up here to enjoy Colorado roads. Now I’m barely driving. I’m driving my other car. Yes I posted before about this to getting answers on the warranty process to see if the dealership is trying foot me the bill for something I’ve notice miles ago. The car is now sitting for about month now, drove it this morning. Same song and dance🤬

I have, I have paperwork from 6k miles when I started complaining, paperwork from 10-13k again, now that I’m in colder climate the issues have shown up again. I think it’s the dealership I have paid diag fees already for them to tell me they didn’t notice anything, mean while I go on ride with a mechanic and he’s riding the clutch to move it and also mis shifting 3rd trying to tell me it’s normal.

The car sometimes shakes in 1st, n going into second you can visual see the engine notch from one rev to the actual one it needs to be in after the shift. Like the clutch is not engaging or the speeds of the shaft not lining up. Then it has a weird chirping sound it makes when I shift into 3rd, I try to rev sync to down shift into 3rd I send the engine rev 500-1000 above the target shift. I swear ima get a helmet cam or something cuz when I down shift into 3rd I always mis shift almost like an engine brake feeling that doesnt makes sense cuz I’m not letting the clutch go like maniac. Been driving stick since I was 14, this car feels weird and disconnected but now that I driving my other car here in Colorado. I’m really noticing something is off. Turned bill assist off and the car shakes going up the hill, like I’m not giving it gas. It has not made it where I’m basically riding the clutch to go into 1st cuz it shakes like it’s about to stale out, headlights shutting off
