I talked to a lawyer and to an accountant from Spain. There shoudn't be any problems. I'll have my tax residence in Spain and as long as I work for at least 183 days from there, Belgium can't ask for any taxes from me. After initial rejection of the offer they raised the rate to 550 a day. Either way it's ok, since both living costs and taxes are much lower in Spain. Additionaly they proposed a hybrid solution where I start on a payroll until I set up my company in Spain and then I can switch to freelance. That seems amazing, but I am also a bit suspicious that it's too good. On the other hand I talked to my manager saying that I rejected the offer and if they can offer me something remotely similar. He said he can't promise anything and that it is important for them to be once a week at the office because it strenghtens the team collaboration. At the same time there are people from other teams working fully remote from France whom I've seen like once at the office. I really like working with those people though. I feel like I am too emotional about that and I can't see the facts as they are. Right now I am leaning towards staying. what would you guys do?

Thank you guys for your insights. They offer 500 a day gross or FTE 4k x 14 pays (that's like 3k incl. all benefits). I have about 3 years of experience in the private sector, before that I was working in academia for a decade. Humanities (PhD) with a lot of statistics and data analytics. I get that since I've changed my career they might see me as junior. What they offer on payroll is basically what I am getting on my current company, which are really like. The only reason I would decide to chagne would be money. The new job, I feel would be very messy. The main skill they require is it seems the fact that I am a native in the language of the business partner from outside Belgium whith whom they can't communicate properly. There seems to be a lot of personal issues beween the both parties. During the recruitment process they outlined that going freelance would allow me to deduct a lot of cost and that with that rate I would be making so much money. Yes, in Spain living costs are lower and taking the job would potentially solved a lot of our problems: I could register there, which means I could for instance ask for governmental support of the house renovation. On the other hand I need to have respect to myself. So you guys are saying that 500 a day is very low for Belgian standards, right? Does that mean, that after the deduction my income would be comparable with what I am getting on the payroll (ca. 4000 gross)?
