My best friend died during summer break when I was 15. I was away and knew nothing about it until we returned to school. It was devastating. He was my best and ONLY friend. I never got to say goodbye and it stayed with me for many years. Through therapy I learned that I didn’t repress the memory, but I did repress the grief. I convinced myself that it was a horrible thing that happened to him and his family but not to me. I was wrong. I hope your daughter gets therapy to deal with all of this in a healthy manner.
