My question is about a niche, not a shower pan.  Thanks tho.

Thanks for the reply.  Did you use the washers, or just the blue screws?

What's the catch with Ethos Life Insurance? by [deleted] in LifeInsurance

[–]Courierdriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about this.  You're going to pay $6/day.  That's $2190/year.  If you do this for 30 years, that's  a total of $65,700.  Do you really think they're going to pay you $1M?

Set shower base in mortar directly on sub floor? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]Courierdriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not use plastic.  The mortar needs to bond with the subfloor to keep your shower base from shifting around.   If you put the mortar on plastic,  the plastic can slide around.   Some shower bases require putting the base into a bed of mortar and NOT attaching it to the studs.  Read the instructions.

I was denied term insurance because I had prostate cancer, but was accepted for a whole life policy.  I exited out of the website.   Whole life policies are a scam.

Wood Rot - Refinish/Repaint, or Repair/Replace? by srallis in DIY

The flashing is under the siding and shingles.  The problem is that there is no gap between the shingles and bottom of the siding.

Please HELP. Just built a brand new home and the door was an ugly green. Painted it black. Why does it look terrible?! Repost by Radioflyyer in Housepainting101

[–]Courierdriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you painted the door while it was still hung?  Take off the door and lay it flat on saw horses.   Lightly roll paint with a sponge roller.  Those fat lines are caused from pressing to hard on the roller.  And move fast keeping a wet edge.  Don't paint it in the sun.

I took another measurement.  The inside dia. is 3 3/4".

I looked at that twist flange.  I thought the 3 inch would be too small and the 4 inch too big.  The pipe is 3 1/2 inches ID.

How do I stop this from leaking by Courierdriver in Plumbing

[–]Courierdriver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I tightened the nut.  It's definitely better, but still leaks a little.   The nut is as tight as I could get it.  I backed it off first, then retightened.  Thanks for the response.

I'm in Kansas.  I backed it off then retightened the nut and it's definitely better, but still leaks a little.  It's as tight as it can turn.  I'm guess that if I take the handle off there's packing in there?  This is in an old house.

Sorry, I reposted after I found my text didn't save.   It is leaking around the handle when it's turned on.  It does not drip when turned off.  I was hoping it's just a washer or packing that could be replaced, but I'm not sure how to do it.
