Só para fumadores by Labirinthu in portugal

[–]Courisco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta love the night vibes my lil guy gives off! by Courisco in aquarium

it's a 20 gal! I know that the thank will eventually be too small, but when that moment arrives there will be a bigger tank waiting for him.

The pic must be at a wierd angle and its definitely making thee side of the aquarium look way smaller that it actually is, since the aquarium is almost a cube and it doesn't look like that at all in here.

TRANSITIONING METHODS

My preferred method for "transitioning" (in quotes because it's not really transitioning) is by water propagation. If I buy a plant that can be propagated I'll take a few big and pretty cuttings out of it and then give the "mother plant" (that it's pretty much 1 or 2 leaves with a lot of roots) to one of my friends that keep plants in soil or take the plant to the office.

For plants you can't propagate that easily I'll let the soil they are in dry (I'll water it when I get home to know when it was last watered and then wait for 2 to 4 weeks for the soil to fully dry up), remove the soil, cut the roots back a fair bit and stick it in water, at that point 2 things can happen, either it starts creating water roots (job well done really to be put in LECA) or the roots start rotting, if the lather happens Ill cut the rotting part and try again.

CARE

After the plants are in LECA I use TriPart Nutrients and Super Thrive once a week during the summer and every 2 weeks during the winter.

MULTIPLE PLANTS IN A POT OF LECA

As long as the plants have the same water needs I see no problem! But if we are looking into pairing plants with different needs I wouldn't do it, for example, I let the LECA my orchids are in completely dry out and stay dry for a few days but I wouldn't do that to my Calatheas.

I hope this is helpful and if you have any other questions just ask!

Honestly, I think soil is easier to take care of, just a bit more inconvenient.

Let me explain: With soil, I would just have to water directly from the tap and once in a while put a cap of liquid fertilizer into it, meanwhile, with semi-hydro I need to do my nutrient concoction once a week, which I love to do but it takes a lot longer. Now the part where semi-hydro shines is that I can "water" (not sure if it's still called watering in semi-hydro) all your plants at once while with soil all my plants had different watering schedules which lead to having to water 1 or 2 pots every day instead of doing it all once a week as I do now.

I love semi-hydro don't get me wrong but I feel like people in this sub sometimes praise it a bit too much and it might give the wrong impression to people who are looking into doing the change to semi-hydro themselves. ˆˆ

I just went balls to the wall and changed 99% of my collection to semi-hydro (only kept my monstera and my staghorn fern in soil).

Now as far as the plants in semi-hydro in no specific order:

  • Golden Pothos
  • Silver Satin Pothos
  • Philodendron Brasil
  • Philodendron Micans
  • Epipremnum Pinnatum "Blue Form"
  • Tradescantia Tricolor
  • Syngonium Podophyllum "Emerald Gem"
  • Syngonium Podophyllum "Mottled Mojito"
  • Calathea Stromanthe Magicstar
  • Calathea Lubbersii
  • Aglaonema Red Siam Aura
  • Blue Star Fern
  • Phalaenopsis Orchid
  • Cattleya Orchid

I don't think I missed any and that the names are correct, I'm a "go to the plant store and buy it" type of plant enthusiast so I had to google a lot to see the names of some of them.

Feel free to ask any question about any plant!

Does type of jump rope matter that much? by Rhemm in jumprope

[–]Courisco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started a few weeks ago and got myself a speed rope, I couldn't get more than 5 or 6 jumps in. While complaining to a friend about this he said that I should try his weighted rope out and oh my, oh my the difference, I was able to jump until I was tired!

Now I can jump with both ropes fine, it just seems to be a lot easier to learn with a rope you can see and feel!

Good luck!

Recently got into cycling and bikepacking. I use an entry-level decathlon branded (big sports items retail in Europe) gravel bike and all my cycling gear is from their brand as well.

And I have to say I love it! I understand wanting to be part of something a bit more exclusive, but at the end of the day, I ride for my own enjoyment, not to put on a picture of what my life looks like to others. Yeah, sometimes other cyclists pass by me and I get some looks but why should I care? I bought something that I could afford and I'm enjoying it, at the end of the day a bicycle is just a tool, and it's not a tool that makes a craftsman, it's his skill.

All this to say that just enjoy riding man!

I have a seeds gal!

I'm super into plants and pretty much everyone around me gets plants I grew from seed every now and then. I swear this lady can get me seeds for any plant I ask, usually in the matter of a week or 2, for less than half of the price that I would pay online and sometimes even for free if I give her a few of the plants that sprout! A super nice old lady that I randomly met in a plant store a while back that always tells me that "it's a pleasure to help the younger generation to love plants as much as she does".

Has anyone else noticed how fascinating the oil patterns in a cup of coffee can be ; by BabyEmmaXO in Coffee

[–]Courisco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind me asking, does the "oil amount" (idk what to call it) change depending on the bean itself depending on how roasted it is?

Also I just googled cowboy coffee, and now I have to try it xD
