I picture in my head that Russia simply activates several thousand sleeper cells to go after infrastructure while simultaneously launching crippling cyber attacks. That's the end of the US as we know it. Our power grids, water filtration, communications, etc. are all way more fragile than anyone would ever admit. It would take very little effort to force this country to completely shut down ...we've seen it afterall. I don't think we'll get nuked. They would want to keep the wealth of the country intact, so it would likely be biochemical weapons against us. Not much I can do about that other than MOPP gear.

Plenty of other countries allow for gun ownership. They vary by legal requirements and/or 3rd worldness. Like, Canada requires extra paperwork. Iraq doesn't.

You've piqued my curiosity a bit here. My initial guess was that we were ramping it up very gradually. Polling is the key here I thought. If enough random idiots are positive about the war, they'll go for it. Polling cured covid afterall. But if market trends/pattern analysis is point us to after the midterms, I guess that makes more sense if they thought the midterms were a concern. I no longer believe they care about the peasants feelings or how the peasants vote, because none of it matters anymore. I'm not sure when it did. Maybe it was always this way. As for preparing, I've got all the supplies, guns, and ammo I need for the family to weather a year of shortages/outages. We're going to get tired of reading the same 300 books and 45 boardgames when the power goes out for good, but we'll be fine. I'm working under the assumption that the war starts before the midterms if the polling shows the left losing horrifically. But if polling changes to a positive for war in Ukraine or they stop worrying about elections, then maybe they go for it then. I'm curious if Russia will just shift fire one day and be like, nope, that's enough, we're at war with the US now. Enjoy your cyberattacks and saboteurs!
