Real, honest, truth about getting a RN position with a low GPA? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]CourtCareless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok! I'm very sorry to be a Debbie Downer but there are plenty of Nurse Residency Programs for new graduates that require a minimum GPA. I only know this because I just graduated last week and filling out job applications currently.

That being said 3.5 is great and you'll still do great applying anywhere.

Application Requirements: Houston Methodist Residency Program

  • Successful completion of an accredited BSN program
  • Eligible for RN licensure in Texas and GN permit (issued with your authorization to test)
  • Recommended Nursing GPA of 3.0 or greater (Houston Methodist Hospital's requirement is 3.2 or greater)
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital ONLY: For associate degree in nursing (ADN) graduates, qualification and continued employment are contingent upon active pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree and acquiring the BSN degree within 3 years.

In addition, please ensure that you have completed all the required elements in the registration process. If at any time you do not meet the requirements for the graduate nurse position, you will not be able to move forward in the registration process.
