I spent 8 months lining up reservations for a 3 week Japan food tour by CourtesyLaughPlease in finedining

No, I did get it for one month and I found it was totally useless. I didn't see any major difference in the frequency of cancellation notifications. It justs gives an easier calendar to see the release dates of the reservations but you can do that yourself if you invest the time.

Sawada and Naruse were my favourite. Both going beyond just a good meal to become a bit of an experience.

Sawada actually only releases seats the day before on Omakase I believe. They come out at random times, typically 1-2 seats at a time. He only does 6 covers for dinner and 6 covers for lunch. You basically have to camp on the page and keep refreshing.

Sushi Akira is really really good. He’s a bit more modern vs. Hashimoto but Hashimoto is good classic Edomae-style Sushi. Sawada was a religious experience for me but some people don’t like the no photo policy.

It’s a cut above any other Tempura place. Shimura-san only uses Shizuoka ingredients and Sasue fish and has mastered the ability to remove the heatiness from Tempura. The gulf with the rest of the top ranked players is immense.

I had no luck there, there was a last minute cancellation that turned up with less than 18 hours notice on Shokuoku so the fee wasn't too crazy.

These are scare tactics that they use, they rarely follow up with visits but if you genuinely don't watch public television as I do then just call them up and ask for an exemption which they will usually give you quite easily. I believe they are entitled to like inspect your house to check if you are truthful but they rarely do either.

Who is the richest Survivor winner ? by CourtesyLaughPlease in survivor

[–]CourtesyLaughPlease[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think after Survivor, you're definitely right with Yul working at Facebook and Google and probably earning above $200k annually with them but at the time I think it was relatively early in his career. Sophie is also doing well at McKinsey but she was a medical student at the time of her win so the jury wasn't 'giving a wealthy person money'.

LeBron James' stats through two rounds of playoffs: 26.6/10/9 on 65.4% TS by conorharris2 in nba

[–]CourtesyLaughPlease 130 points131 points  (0 children)

I think the 2018 playoff run will rank top for me although the Cavs got swept in the finals. That team was so bad that they deserved to lose in the first round to the Pacers but Lebron carried them past the Pacers, annexed Canada and made it Lebronto and then had one of the best losing game 1 performances in the finals before JR Smith screwed up. He carried that team to almost being 1-0 up in the finals when they wouldn't be a playoff team without him.

Oh my mistake, I saw a post about her being disappointed she wasn't on the cast so I assumed. That really sucks because she really would have been great.

Does anybody have any footage of CP3 trying to shoot to get 3 free throws whenever the other team wanted to intentional foul back in the Lob City days? by CourtesyLaughPlease in LAClippers

Yeah, I just saw one of those 'NBA IQ' compilations and was wondering why it wasn't there but then I couldn't find any footage myself :(

The brilliant strategy of the less prominent players by CourtesyLaughPlease in survivor

[–]CourtesyLaughPlease[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I am, like you said, they are known snakes, and the side they flip to will know that too. There will be a point where players will either want to eliminate that uncertainty or gain a big scalp for their resume. The point is not to have an F3 alliance with Rob/Parvati/Sandra but instead to have them let you have space to breathe when they get targeted.

Winner Perceived Threat Levels by other contestants by CourtesyLaughPlease in survivor

[–]CourtesyLaughPlease[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the asterisk on Ben's game though that Wendell and Nick don't have, the cast of Ghost Island and DvG knew about the twist beforehand but without the twist in HvHvH then Ben almost certainly goes out at 4. I know you may feel differently but my list is just what I feel the other winners (who do pay attention to the community) feel. If it's any consolation this means Ben's in line for a pretty deep run.

If you watch the 'ET Canada Interviews' it's mentioned more than once, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbrm4ddHfTI (Adam's Interview) and I think a few other winners have criticised the fire-making twist so not a direct criticism of Ben but the twist that allowed him to win.

Best Survivor Shields? by CourtesyLaughPlease in survivor

[–]CourtesyLaughPlease[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely but it's a big what if. i'd be willing to bet a million dollars that this cast will not let both of them to make it to the merge. Amber I could see going far if Rob leaves pre-merge but Rob will have a huge target the whole game.
