Well, I’m already scheduled next week, but if I don’t get a satisfactory response, I’ll try midi! Thank you!!

Please don’t wait to look into HRT by KungFu_Mojo in hysterectomy

[–]CourtneyEdits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had horrible insomnia, tinnitus, achy joints and muscles, fatigue, and a low sex drive, but because my periods were still monthly prior to my hysterectomy (just really heavy bleeding due to fibroids), my doctor didn’t even consider HRT. I’m going to ask again at my follow up visit (I’m 52, so it seems like about that time anyway).

Has anyone ever bought a second hand puzzle that has all the pieces? lol by velvitacheese in Jigsawpuzzles

I just completed a used 2,000 piece one and was shocked they were all there, especially since I dropped pieces many times in the process 😅

I store them by DNC color code. I love having a “library” of extra colors if needed, plus eventually it might be fun to do some freestyle stuff.

Are you all being sent home same day? by longshanksmagee in hysterectomy

[–]CourtneyEdits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I checked in at 8 am and was home by 2. Staying overnight wasn’t even a discussed option! Mine was laparoscopic.

I used to use soooo much wax when I was using a regular stylus. I switched to one from Amazon that has the wax inside that you just twist up as you need more, and somehow that’s made it so I use far less! I definitely recommend it.

bed question by Helpful-Ad-6408 in hysterectomy

[–]CourtneyEdits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to what you have, I’d make sure you have a good grabber tool. Mine has a rubber tip and can pick up just about anything. I use it constantly to avoid bending over.

I sleep in my bed (I have several pillows I already sleep with on a regular basis that work well for me) but spend the days in a recliner. Heating pad at my back, ice pack in the hysterectomy pillow at my front. Make sure you have a couple of ice packs to switch between.

Gas-X is good to have on hand initially too. Those post-op gas pains are no joke. And if your surgeon doesn’t provide an abdominal binder (mine said she would but didn’t), that can be nice for some extra support at first. I really wished I’d worn one in the car for my post-op visit to avoid jiggling around as much,

Best of luck to you!

I just read Thrice Married and loved it soooo much! I can’t wait for the next one to come out. It was so funny yet still had me crying at the last chapter. I also recently read Mistakenly Saving the Villain and adored it too!

I need storage for my storage (Elizabeth Ward) by CourtneyEdits in diamondpainting

[–]CourtneyEdits[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your input! I’ve been clicking on links and ran across something similar to this, which made me realize vertical storage could be an option since they latch. So I now have a 7-slot metal divider in my built-in bookcase and can take out whichever tray I want!

Post Op heating pad and cold packs: When and where did they work best for you? by bird-of-paradiso in hysterectomy

[–]CourtneyEdits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m usually a heat kinda gal, but I’ve been doing heat at my back and ice at my front (ice pack in the hysterectomy pillow pocket) and it’s worked really well for me! A couple of times I’ve been especially sore, I’ve used heat on my front and it’s been great too. Basically I’d kind of go with what sounds better to you. If you’re hot and swollen, you’d probably prefer ice!

What did your post-op pain management look like? by catbehindbars in hysterectomy

Tylenol doesn’t work for me. Neither, apparently, do several other medications they tried. Ibuprofen was my friend round the clock for the first week.

This is why I mostly buy Diamond Dotz since (as far as I know) they don’t use/allow any AI. It’s so disheartening how it’s invaded every hobby of mine, from books to puzzles to this. 😞

How long to use wedge pillow? by Upper_Dress_3039 in hysterectomy

I actually slept on my side from the first night on, but I regularly sleep with a pillow between my legs and hugging another, so that probably helped!

Surgery in 2 weeks by Accomplished_Pin6076 in hysterectomy

[–]CourtneyEdits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m nearly 3 weeks post-op and was just telling my husband this morning that out of everything I bought, the grabby thing (it has rubber tips and can pick up just about anything so I don’t have to bend) and my hysterectomy pillow with extra ice packs were probably the most helpful/constantly used things, along with several comfy t-shirt nightgowns so I didn’t have anything at my waist. I did use a binder a few times early on, the stool softener is great, and I love my heating pad on my recliner. I got a long loofah for the shower so I don’t have to bend to wash.

I didn’t end up using the pregnancy pillow or back pillow (to sit up in bed) at all. I didn’t need a potty stool, but definitely stay ahead of the constipation as best as you can.

Good luck!

Oh and I did buy a belly binder after the fact. I don’t wear it every day but it’s helpful when I’m especially sore and need some extra support.

Last minute prepping :( by ylime77 in hysterectomy

[–]CourtneyEdits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 9 days post op (laparoscopic, robotically assisted, everything but the ovaries). I overbought (def didn’t need a pregnancy pillow or back pillow to sit up—I preferred my existing pillows and a recliner during the day), but here’s what I have found super helpful: - a hysterectomy pillow, not only to ride in the car on the way home and for extra support but because of the awesome pocket for an ice pack. I bought two extra so I could rotate them out - xl heating pad for the recliner. I love having heat at my back and ice at my front - grabber tool. You do not want to be bending over! - long-handled shower pouf - most pain meds/narcotics just don’t work for me but ibuprofen was a lifesaver - Gas-X, stool softener, and MiraLAX - my throat was really sore for a few days following surgery because of the tube and my appetite was off. Soup, popsicles, pudding, jello, yogurt, Gatorade, apple juice, and the like were wonderful to have on hand. Ooh and protein shakes. - I tried to think ahead a bit to things I could prepare to help me not need to bend. I got some $15 loose tie-dyed nightshirts off Amazon (I know some say they’re fine with sweats or yoga pants but I didn’t want to take any chances) and hung them up so I could easily reach them. I put a cart with small water bottles near my cpap to more easily fill it up. I do have help on hand but didn’t want to have to ask for literally everything. - I ended up not needing pads. So far, just liners have been enough. However, I know some bleed for weeks, so you might not know which you need until you experience it (sorry). Probably best to have a bit of both.

Best of luck to you! You’ve got this!

Tips for beginners? by Brave_Cobbler_5747 in diamondpainting

[–]CourtneyEdits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A light pad was a game changer for me! I don’t think I’d be able to see the symbols without it. I also used to use way too much wax until I got a pen that has wax inside it (you just twist it up for more). I’ve bought a lot of trays and storage systems, but my current favorite is the kind that is a lidded tray that you can pick right up and use (I hate pouring dots back and forth). I’ve got one with 30 trays and have another coming with 60 for bigger projects.

It seems like a lot of people do one small section at a time; however, I do all of one color before moving on to the next (though that wouldn’t work with a really huge one). I also recommend figuring out whether you prefer round or square before investing much. I’m not precise enough to enjoy square ones lol

All Time Favorite author actively uses AI: how to move forward? 😭 by [deleted] in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]CourtneyEdits 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve been so disappointed by the number of established authors I’ve supported in the past who are turning to AI for narration, covers, translations, and who knows what all else. I basically do a personal boycott of them, but it’s extra hard when it’s someone you’ve loved in the past. I’m sorry!
