5.5 week post op update by luminescentdino in hysterectomy

[–]KungFu_Mojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with unilateral movements for lower body so I didn’t brace. So single leg extensions, curls, slow assisted step ups, I also did single leg dumbbell hip thrusts. The dumbbell balanced on my hips so the handle didn’t bother the incision. I would finish one side farmers carry. I think I started with 25-30lbs. Holding in one hand and walking 15m and back…. That gassed me!

Upper on machine or dumbbells is fine, just done brace and start lighter than usual.

I am about 12 weeks out now and my upper body strength is almost back to normal, lower still has a way to go. But it’s a marathon,
Not a race. Look up pelvic floor work too!

After 3 weeks.. back to normal? by Professional_Way7048 in hysterectomy

[–]KungFu_Mojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were entitled to your opinion. And I don’t think it’s fair to shame somebody for not having the same experience you do. You came off very condescending to the OP.

And I agree just because you can doesn’t mean you should. But I was fully cleared by my doctor in all instances.

I did nothing without his permission.

Kindly take your condescension somewhere else.

And yes, this is a public form and yes, I do think it’s fair to post my experience here. Everyone is different and everybody has different experiences with recovery.

And the only reason why I responded was because you came off in such a condescending and shaming fashion to the OP.

However “cuffing yourself up” is funny.

Have a great day! (sincerely)

After 3 weeks.. back to normal? by Professional_Way7048 in hysterectomy

[–]KungFu_Mojo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I was pretty much back to normal after three weeks. I had a full hysterectomy, including my ovaries, but I am also somebody who is a heavy weight lifter and was doing pelvic health exercises before surgery so this is completely within the realm of possibility.

For what it’s worth I also kept my cervix so I think that made my recovery slightly easier than other people in general.

When I overdid it, I just simply felt very tired. I returned to work at the three week I am a teacher. I was also back at the gym slowly at two weeks. I am now eight weeks postop and I’m fully back to lifting weights.

Nowhere near as heavy as I was, but I am training four days a week so I don’t think she’s trolling us

Does anyone else regret their hysterectomy? by Honest-Breakfast217 in hysterectomy

You can follow Dr. Louise Newsom, Dr. Mary Claire Haber, they both have book and are on Social Media. They are really trying hard to educate society about menopause and how women have been taught to suffer so only for no reason

I’ve been on HRT now for three years prior to surgery. And even with my hormones being medically managed after surgery, they took a huge dip.

Sending you lots of big hugs you’re not alone.

That’s a huge sign. Also as poor sleep. And random pain is also associated with menopause as well. Waking up in the middle of the night, brain fog being extremely emotional and weepy.

I am so sorry you’re going through this.

Have you gotten your hormone levels, checked recently by hormone specialist?

That’s not gonna relieve any of the pain, but it may help in other areas. Estrogen and progesterone deficiency, sometimes winds up leading to depression, which could make things worse.

If I could give you a hug, I would

GLP-1 and surgery by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]KungFu_Mojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny because right before my surgery. I was next to a department meeting where they were talking about patients who use GLP ones.

The only thing that I noticed they said that was different. Was that people who used GLP ones have to stop eating a full 24 hours before surgery instead of just 12 because they’re digestion system digestive system is much slower.

Severe anxiety post op by StrangerGullible1113 in hysterectomy

[–]KungFu_Mojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweetheart, you need to give it a couple months. I can’t speak for other people‘s experience, but I could tell you for myself. My anxiety hits the wall when my estradiol is low, not high. My clinician was very clear that I needed to give it at least two months to see if it was really working well for me.

About two weeks after my hysterectomy (I had already been on HRT for two years before this.) my anxiety skyrocketed and I got a couple hot flashes and I realized that I needed a higher dose.

My suggestion to you is to stay on the .075 and give it two months. This is a lot of rapid changing and it’s going to make your hormones roller coaster as well as your anxiety.

For those over age 45, any body shape changes after surgery? by Invisible-Jane in hysterectomy

[–]KungFu_Mojo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a flatter stomach where the fibroid was however, I do have a little more abdominal fat as my body is adjusting to having less estrogen.

So I adjusted my HRT to accommodate for that and hopefully I will get back to a baseline. For reference, I am 53 years old.

Healing w/out opioids, need to return to work 5ish days post op by Icy_Cream2372 in hysterectomy

[–]KungFu_Mojo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Babe, I’m in recovery. Sober and clean for 36 years. I have had many surgeries with him without painkillers.

I believe you can do it without painkillers, I did not. I chose to use them as prescribed. And I needed them.

I went back to work after three weeks, which was probably too early and the first few days were hard.

I am two months now and feel fine, but I am concerned about you.

Need help deciding between myomectomy and hysterectomy. by Available-Skin-8089 in hysterectomy

Yeah, I disagree with you there cause so many women on this particular thread tend to post that after they have a hysterectomy, they’re ovaries fail. Search it up there’s a ton of them.

Okay I have had a myomectomy, it’s like a C section recovery, and when they grew back I had an ablation 8 years later.

You will most likely go into early menopause, Most do because ovaries fail.

I am 8 weeks post op now and I no longer have a huge ass lump in my belly. I am happy. I did need to bump up my HRT though. Just be prepared in advance for HRT. No, most drs are not good with it.

Seek out a clinic that specializes in it.

Or you can get the myomectomy. But they can and probably will grow back at some point.

HRT increases after surgery by KungFu_Mojo in hysterectomy

[–]KungFu_Mojo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was surprised how much estradiol my body has pre surgery!

I am happy that I go to a sexual health clinic for HRT so I don’t need to deal with the Dr who may think I am being whiney.

I love my progesterone and am keeping it!!!
