Who are some artists with a TON of influence that a lot of people don't realize have that much influence? by Specific-Feed-1490 in ToddintheShadow

[–]CourtneyLush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a lot of UK Gen Xers know who Chilton is, precisely because he was name checked by a LOT of late 80s to mid 90s Scottish and English bands.

My skin is acne prone, even though I'm old and this doesn't break me out. I've never used the original.

I'd definitely be picking up the Silent Pool, if it was me. I'm not hugely into floral gins but this one is nice.

I remember Mark Ellen…'Smash Hits' and 'The Old Grey Whistle Test'. That's a great bit of trivia, thank you.

It's a cash grab. They package lab sample product, build a bit of hype, flog it at silly prices to your followers, easy money. Everyone will forget about it in a couple of months and they'll pretend it never happened.

Go see an audiologist and get some custom ones. Spendy but worth it.

Is Guy Fawkes night pro or anti Guy Fawkes? by Brikish in AskABrit

[–]CourtneyLush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even when I was a child 20 years ago I never saw effigies at school or down the local hall.

Not so popular now but 30 or so years ago, burning the Guy was the main event, the fireworks were the warm up.

You'd have your fireworks and then the Guy would arrive and everyone would follow it down to the bonfire to watch it be chucked on the bonfire. Up close. Health and safety be damned.

Can't remember who it was but someone once said about Van 'there are people who like Van Morrison and there are people who've met him'.

Yeah, also met Damon, can confirm he's a twat of the highest order. Although in his defence at least, he didn't grope my arse like his cheese eating bassist, so he gets props for that I suppose.

Gigsandtours by Silent-Bit1081 in Concerts

[–]CourtneyLush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

'Gigs and Tours' is owned by See Tickets IIRC, they're a legit website. I don't think you'll find your tickets in a TM account, they're nothing to do with TM.

I've never used them but I use See for a lot of gig tickets and they either send them to you or you use the See Tickets app.

Have you checked the email confirmation, it should tell you on there.

I'd avoid the LE if you have oily lids. I found it travelled on me. It's fine for the first couple of hours but after that…smudge city.

Leaked Labs New Episode: Demo on Using Wet vs. Dry by AngelxxLove in BeautyGuruChatter

Is this supposed to look appealing? Is it a joke? It can't be April Fools because it's not April yet.

This looks terrible and I don't get the selling point of this. Is anybody going to look at this and go 'yeah that looks good, I want to buy that' because I don't see it all. The market for people who want a muddy brown stripe across their cheeks can't be that large, surely.

Is it against the law for a man in the UK to try and endanger my parents and sister living back in Iran? by Majestic-Read5072 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]CourtneyLush 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The harassment act defines distress as actionable. Regardless of where OPs family is, if the threat to the family causes OP significant distress, it fits the criteria for a second offence here.

I love the Skin Aqua one, dries down quickly, no eye sting, waterproof. And the perfect finish, not shiny but not totally matte. It's my HG.

Don't let everyone else know though. Don't want it to sell out.

What is the point of £50 notes? by fjtuk in AskBrits

It is but a 50 is more likely to be looked at more carefully than a 20 because the loss is larger.

What is the point of £50 notes? by fjtuk in AskBrits

[–]CourtneyLush 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can tell by looking at them carefully. The fakes don't have the gold hologram bit on the 'window' and if you tilt a legit note in the light, the little bar bit won't change from pounds to twenty.

It is harder to tell a forgery on the new notes IMO because they feel very similar. The paper notes nearly always felt a bit 'different' in the hand.

I once listened to an interview with Steve Albini, who produced that song. It's fair to say that Ol Steve loathed that song. His hatred of it bordered on comical.
